Typically I Rely On Pen Pressure :')
Though, You Can Get The Same Effect By Making A Couple Big Stripes And Then Erasing Them Down.
Just Make Sure To Make Another Layer For The Stripes And Then Clip Them Down Onto The Cats Base Color.
