I have this headcannon that their flower petals fall off in the fall/winter, and then they regrow in the spring/summer.They probably hate spring because the petals make it impossible to see when they first start growing. As much as they dislike being unable to see, I doubt they'd try to open the petals early by pealing them back because it'd ruin them.
