What They Look for in a Mate

If an when asked about what he looks for in a mate, Mordax will almost always respond that he doesn't have time to think about mates, or blow the question off in a similar matter. In truth, he wants nothing more than to find the right lion who will love him for who he is.

You see, Mordax is a terrifying lion. Larger than most, with well-toned muscles from years of training, plus a night-dark pelt and piercing red eyes; there are few who Mordax doesn't intimidate. Even his name isn't that most...welcoming of things. He longs to meet a lion who doesn't judge him for his frightening appearance, or at the very least, can love him regardless. He wants a mate who could see past his grim visage, who Mordax wouldn't feel as though he were deceiving any time he tried to be anything but his pride's star Lieutenant.

Above all, however, are his birds. Mordax cares deeply for his lovebirds - he raised many of them himself, after all. Nothing makes him lose respect for a lion quicker than them being cruel towards his birds. It is the softness Mordax feels for them that he hopes to reveal one day, to show someone he cares deeply about and for them to understand.

All Mordax wants from a mate is someone he can trust, someone he can be himself around.

Tamu is a hopeless romantic, and gets crushes pretty easily. She has almost no preferences, with one exception. She is very attracted to lions who are good with cubs. She's good with her birds, and needs someone to help balance her out. She's not very social, and spends most of her time with her birds. She also really likes confidence. It's one of the things she wishes she was, and being around someone who is confident and supportive, helps her out in the long run. Looks aren't as important to her, but it is a definite bonus when the lion she's crushing on this week is pretty cute.

Zipporah is a practical lioness because of how she was raised. So, she looks for someone who can protect her, and any cubs they might have, a capable fighter and hunter. Preferably with decent status in the pride for both their sakes. She has convinced herself over and over that this is the right decision, waiting for someone practical.

But secretly she kind of likes the idea of being wooed and romanced, not just finding someone practical. She sees how her birds are with each other, and she wonders what it might be like to care that deeply for someone. To want to be with them and affectionate toward them. To truly feel deep loss if they are gone. But she's a little afraid to take that risk, opening her heart to someone only to lose them or maybe be rejected or hurt as she has been before. Yet, she can't help dreaming about someone kind and gentle who would take her feelings into consideration and truly treasure her heart.

When asked, Cendra typically declares that she is not in the least bit interested in a relationship, so she usually wont bother answering what she would actually look for in a potential partner.

But when alone, all to just herself and her birds, she'll finally be willing to admit it.

"Someone that I can talk to. Someone that will listen if I am excited, if I am sad, or if I just want to tell them something, even if it's just a trivial thing. Someone that I can fight and argue with. Someone that will make up with me, still, without holding it against me when we do argue. Someone that will appreciate my good points, but still not mind the bad. Someone that will want to protect me, even when I am that kind that insists on not being protected, but wont be smug or mean about it. Someone that will... snuggle with me, and feel warm. Someone that will love me, and when they're beside me, I will think that this is home. What They Look for in a Mate

“What am I looking for in a mate?” She’d scoff, beginning some other task in order to deflect her attentions. “Why, darlin’ I’m looking for someone tall, dark and handsome! Someone who’ll sweep me off my poor, defenceless little paws and keep me protected from the big, bad world!” Sarcasm dripping from her words, she’d then leave the conversation, going under the guise of having important work to do or something in the attempt to abandon the situation.

In reality, the closed-off, harsh tongued lioness wants nothing more than to find her soulmate. Personality matters to her far more than appearance or status, with her longing for someone who fits with her like that puzzle piece that she has long since lost. She needs to find the person who quells the extremities of her moods, someone with whom she can share her excitement, voice her worries, or vent her rages. She needs someone with a kind, listening ear, but also someone who isn’t afraid to be firm with her or to tell her things straight. And, most importantly of all, she needs someone who she can call her best friend.

What They Look for in a Mate Many things but really anyone who will listen to them. Kalino is quiet except when it comes to something they are really interested in. Kalino doesn't mean to... but he has a tendency to talk and talk until the other lion is exhausted, because of this he is often compared to the lovebirds that frolic by him. Kalino also loves curiosity in a mate. Constantly asking questions much of what he does revolves around his curiosity. A potential mate will most likely not be able to meet his level of curiosity but as long as they are least somewhat curious Kalino will be content. Last but not least, loyalty is important. Someone Kalino can count on to be by his side through thick and thin will win his heart quickly
