Story: caught in a rip current
A softly moonlit night was the perfect time to go for a stroll along the beach. Abraxas swished her short tail against the wind, a bit strong for tonight, but she didn’t mind as the the salty breeze ruffled her fur. It was refreshing, the smell of the sea, and she enjoyed it very much so. Even more so than laying by the campfire with her favorite elven companion.
The stars were out in all their full glory tonight. She tipped her head back, admiring them, eyes half closed against the wind. Perfection.
Looking back to the earth now Abraxas was delighted to find that those same stars shimmered invitingly on the water. She dipped one paw in, rumbling happily as the reflections danced around her paws. Splashing a little further in, she spied the moon watching lazily over them all, the gentle glow a peaceful sight.
Paws and legs already wet, Abraxas shrugged, immersing herself fully in the water, feet leaving the ground as she paddled out a little ways. The sand dropped sharply beneath herself before rising once more as a sandbar, allowing her to stand freely once more. Odd, she hadn’t realized she’d gone out so far, entranced by swimming through the stars as she was.
Abraxas played for a little while longer, ducking beneath the waves, feeling the currents tug through her fur, swimming around happily. The next time she paused to stand upon the sandbar she cast a glance back at the moonlit shore and froze, startled by how far she had come. She hadn’t intended to. And the distance was far greater than she was really comfortable with, while she enjoyed a dip every now and then she wasn’t exactly a strong swimmer.
But shore was still within reach, after all if she went out this far she could go back in.
Abraxas flung herself back into the waves, paddling surely towards the beach, only for panic to set in at how incredibly hard it was to do so. She threw herself forwards, increasingly alarmed, as all her efforts went to waste, the water pulling her further out and along the shore line. What was going on?
Exhaustion set in quickly, the water was no longer refreshing but chilling her bones. Abraxas struggled against the rip current, anxiety rising as she made no progress to free herself in the slightest.
Panic clogged her throat. No one knew she was out here. She’d gone for a stroll as she often did, no one would take any notice if she was gone for a little while more than normal.
A shiver racked her spine and she renewed her effort, soaked fur threatening to pull her under as she slowly lost the battle to keep her muzzle above water. Panicked throughly, Abraxas ceases her efforts towards shore, focusing on treading water now and keeping herself afloat. She watched in dismay as she was transported further along the shore.
An idea occurred, watching the shoreline slip away, and Abraxas put tired paws to use, swimming parallel now, following the current as she had unwittingly done before. It had to end at some point.
Just as she hoped this turn of direction was easier, and she floated almost as much as she paddled. Still exhausted, she didn’t really have much of a choice really. But at long last the rip current gave up its grasp on her, and Abraxas was able to haul herself up to shore.
She collapsed on the beach, sand clogging her fur, the least of her worries as she drew in breath after breath.
She was safe. She was alive.

Story: Abraxas had decided to take a nice midnight stroll at one of the most haunted graveyards. You see, he was one who enjoyed experiencing hauntings and paranormal activity. Not to mention, he also had to pass through to get to his home on the other side, Misted Ridge Forests. Abraxas himself is often seen in the graveyard, a very spooky, whispy-ghost-like figure just walking slowly between graves. On this fateful night, the dead were alive. As he strolled by a cross-shaped tomb, mossy words scratched across the surface of the stone, he felt the ground tremble. He stopped, surprised. He wasn't easily scared, but his heart jumped, the dead were alive? A paw shot out of the tomb, it's claws flexing and mangled. "Alright, that's enough of that!" Abraxas flicked his tail, breaking into a run as paws and claws started shooting up to the surface. As he finally made it to his home, he looked back. There was nothing. No disturbance, no undead, nothing at all... Eerie mist blanketed the forest behind him as he disappeared into the night.

Class: Warrior
Age: Young adult
Story: She couldn't see, couldn't breathe.

Were those trees or monsters? I thought they were limbs, but they're reaching for me, grabbing like hands hoping to tear me apart...!

It wasn't in her to panic, but that must have been the feeling settling in her chest.

Which way did she enter from? She could have sworn she'd just seen Ragland pass a few yards back - a flash of beige caught her eye suddenly, and instinctively the femal Rohk lunged for it, leaving the safety of the path in favor of where Artemis thought she saw her partner pass. But when she got there, she didn't see a single soul in sight; a growl erupted from her throat, and she bolted farther into the dense woods, towards where her mind thought he vanished to. She would not let him toy with her this way! Her signature anger spurred Artemis on faster, her pale legs tearing up the ground in great strides.

The farther I run, though, the more panic settled it.

It felt like she'd been running for hours - had it actually been hours, or only minutes? Time seemed to have no control here, almost like a different dimension. The female Rohk slowed slightly, her muscles begging for rest, but here nothing seemed familiar and that tickle in her sinuses was continually worsening. She felt dizzy; her already novice navigation skills were completely useless here, and with the thick canopy she couldn't even see the stars to try to get her bearings. Her anger was quickly giving way to fear; legs and muscles screaming for her to stop, Artemis' anxiety was pushing her even farther than she thought she ever could have gone. Light and shadows danced in the edges of her vision, the trees trying to grab her as she passed, and orbs and silhouettes danced between the trees, often taking the form of her partner or other Rohk. She'd never experienced anything like this before, and it was tearing apart her "bad girl" demeanor like wet tissue paper.

This isn't real, it's all in my head! It's not real, it's not -

Suddenly the shadow of something large lunged at her, more solid than the rest. Massive bat-like wings absorbed all the light in that small area and Artemis spooked, leaping sideways with a fearful yowl. Her paws got caught in the thick underbrush in this unexplored part of the forest and she tumbled haphazardly, down a small incline and out of the forest's invisible walls. As she laid on the ground, chest heaving with exertion, she could hear Ragland's voice as he caught up to her. Kali, Ragland's rider, was quick to leap down and run to the female Rohk's aid. "It's alright Artemis, just breathe. Stop and breathe," Kali said, gently petting the white Rohk's head; for once, Artemis did not fight her.

"We've been chasing you for miles; you ran ahead of us and then suddenly started freaking out," he said, voice sounding both annoyed and worried at the same time. "What happened to your mask?"

Suddenly Artemis looked at him suddenly. "My mask?" She asked, struggling to remember.

"Yes, your mask. You know the pollen in these woods mess with our minds, you were supposed to keep it on so we could pass through," Ragland sighed heavily, shaking his head.

"I'll make you a new one, don't worry about it too much, Artemis! It's no wonder you were behaving so strangely, but all that matters is you're safe and out of there. Come, can you walk? We're almost to the Inn," Kali smiled, and immediately Artemis felt her heart slowing down. The white Rohk nodded and slowly hauled herself up. "Let's just take it slow." As the trio set back off, now safely out of the forest, Artemis felt her mind rest knowing that they were just images spawning from the flora's hallucinogenic pollen. She felt so confident, in fact, that she didn't even feel the need to look back at the forest.

If she had, though, she might have noticed the pair of soulless white eyes staring at them from the dense underbrush.

But they were all just hallucinations, right?
