well, i liked the featured drawing of the feather with the dots, so here is my failed attempt at it.

I aggee with Julie, I almost thought it was a real feather! heres a tip:use the smudge tool on the lines ^^

i tried the smudge, but then the background mixed with the feather and well, needless to say i ended with a soup puddle. thank you so much for the good comments

Try layers. so it will only smudge the feather; not the backround
