Meeting Kathryn & First Touch

"Just a casual day I thought!"
I had already taken care of morning chores, and was already noon. So I saddled up
Duncan for a ride, who was a little nippy as I got his tack on, and even gave me a
good whack on my back with his tail hand. I groaned to myself as silently and just
continued tacking up Duncan. After I had got his tack on I mounted upon him, I
gave the signal to go. We left a fairly large dust cloud, taller than Duncan! I held
on tight knowing I won't have much time to slow him down to exit soundly from
the Ranch. Over the front gate we went, and luckily I had prepared to signal him
a turn once we landed. After we had landed and made our turn, I signaled Ducan
to slow down a notch. I had for the fun of it, I thought of going for a trail ride that
ended up passing by The Neravontii Agency! I patted Ducan on the neck when he
obeyed to my command. He Squealed then gave a bit of a buck, then just
continued on with a sassy and bouncy trot. For the majority of the ride, he
preferred trotting and cantering. He for sure was going to need the
break once we got to the Agency.

"Moving I0028 to another pen"
We had entered The property of the Agency and found Logan. I dismounted and walked with Logan walking
with Duncan behind me. Duncan seemed to remember Logan and walked calmly behind. We made it to the
pastures with the new Neravontiis that just arrived. I tied up Duncan to a post nearby the pasture I was
meeting some of my new Neravontiis. I patted Duncan on the neck and gave him a peppermint from my
pocket. I patted him on the neck then walked to the gate that Logan was at and starting to open the gate
to the pasture of some Neravontiis I was planning on adopting. I walked over to the gate and walked in as
he warned me that there were four of them together in this pasture. I looked in the distance to see 7
Neravontiis nipping at each other as they began to run further away from Logan and I, as we both entered
the pasture. I was planning on adopting I0028, the Golden Paint Mare with a mane that was white with blue
stripes that continued onto her neck. We chatted for a short bit just walking around the pasture to get the
Neravontiis used to us. As we chatted, I got the chance to sorta check out each Neravontii that was in the
pasture. I admired each of the Neravontiis. I told Logan that if any soon end up not adopted that I'll adopt
the rest of the herd. Logan said they'll let me know if space is needed and will let me adopt the herd as a
package. As we chatted we started moving in closer to the herd of neravontiis. As we got closer to I0028,
we split up to try and part her from the herd, and to push her into another direction so that we could move
her to a round pen. We had fences set up leading to the round pen. I0028 was rather easy to split from the
herd because she seemed interested in meeting us but was incredibly nervous. The mare stood still as we
reached about 20 feet from her. She lowered her head then began to paw at the ground. A Stallion in the
distance seemed tempted to approach upon the nervous mare's caution. He stood in the back watching
and flicking his ears. He seemed prepared to charge if anything were to go wrong. Logan looked at me
then shouted out that he's been calling the stallion Shotgun. I laughed as we separated the mare from
the herd. We put pressure on her to move towards the other pen, and just followed her from a
distance to prevent threat to her and the herd.

"Time to Meet I0028"
We had gotten the mare into the other pen separated from the herd so that I could try
and break her. I stood outside off the pen she was placed in to allow her time to settle
down from being moved as she seemed terribly nervous. We chatted more as we allowed
the mare to settle down. Logan was mostly at this point giving me tips to handle a nervous
Neravontii. As I got up Logan sat in place to watch me work on I0028 for the first time. The
mare had watched me the whole time I was walking to the pen. Soon as I got to the gate she
started to panic a bit in the back of the pen. I stood outside of the pen to give the mare time
to get used to me. I held out some carrots in one hand and some raw chicken that Logan had
offered to me to see what she desires the most. Veggies or Meat! The mare stopped and stood
in place with her head held high.I stood with these goodies held out for a few minutes. She
seemed to keep her distance at the same time keeps tempting. I unlocked the gate, and slowly
moved the gate open. I slipped into the pasture and closed the gate. I stood in place watching
the mare as she began to trot back and forth in the back with her head held high. I stood still
until the mare had finally settled down. I slowly began to move towards the center of the small
pen. I started to break the carrot into a few pieces. I began to throw the pieces of carrot out in
the direction of the mare to try and attract her attention and to show her I'm not as much as a
threat as she thinks I am. After I had thrown a few pieces of carrots into the distance I turned
around and sat down on the ground. I waited silently as I listened for movement behind me.
After a minute I began to hear crunching. I waited patiently as the mare enjoyed her treats.

The First Touch
Suddenly there was snorting sounds from behind me. I sat very quietly and still as the nervous mare sniffed me
from behind as I sat on the ground. I could feel gentle nuzzling on the top of my head and on my shoulders.
A couple of times I could feel her breath go down my neck and in my ears. I suddenly got the chills from her
breath then giggled. The mare jumped back a couple feet and lowered her head as she looked at me nervously
and seemed confused. I look back to see her staring at me and then constantly looking at the raw chicken next
to me. I tore a piece of the raw chicken and tossed it lightly towards the mare. She moved back a step but then
instantly moved forward 3 steps. The mare had ate the piece of raw meat and squealed. I tore another piece of
meat from the raw chicken. I dropped the piece right behind me then turned away. The mare had moved up
behind me for the piece of raw chicken I tore off for her. I started to feel nuzzling on my back again. So I tore
another piece of raw chicken an set it next to me for her. I wasn't sure if she would end up biting my hand off
so didn't hand it to her with my hand just yet. The mare had moved up next to me and ate the piece I tore off
from her then suddenly she stole the rest of the raw chicken, and walked a few feet away. I just sat patiently
and watched the mare as she ate the raw chicken. After a couple of minutes the mare was slowly moving towards
me. I held my arm for her to sniff more easily. I spoke softly to the mare to get her used to my voice and to try and
see if I could sooth her. The mare moved in closely and nuzzled my hand. I tickled the mare's nose, and unexpectedly
she lifted her upper lip and flapped it as a horse would. I laughed quietly as the mare stood still uncertain of my
approach. I slowly moved my hand to the forehead of the mare and slowly placed my hand on he forehead and
stroked her softly. The mare jumped lightly but let me stroke her for a few seconds before backing away. She
then turned around and walked away. So I got up and decided perhaps to let her have a break for the day, and
to come back tomorrow to try and gain more of her trust. I made my way out of the pen, to say goodbye to
Logan for the day. I mounted up on Duncan and headed home.

First Halter

First Halter
Training before moving to halter
I had I0028 brought over to my ranch after a couple of visits of getting to know her and
getting her used to me. I had let her settle in for a couple of days, but still visited her and
brought a variety of treats and snacks to her, each visit! I've spoke to her, and even hung
out in the pasture with her and just watch how she behaves. I've learned she seems to
have soft spots, and seems she wants to get to know me but just always so nervous. Each
day she seemed to move closer and closer to me, and I've been able to pet her more each
time I visit her. There have been couple times she nipped at me and bolted. But otherwise
she seems to be pretty social and sweet. The more I got to know the mare the more names
I had on mind. Finally I had decided that I will call her Kathryn, but Kathryn the Indian Pony
for Registered name.

She seems to have settled in so I've decided to give it a try on rounding her up. I decided to use
Duncan, as I wanted these two to get used to each other. I gathered Duncan and got him tacked
up. As usual he'll nip at the air or whip me as I tighten the cinch of his saddle. I mounted upon
Duncan and had a rope ready to capture Kathryn from the pasture and to bring her to the round
pen. I gave Duncan the signal to walk. We trotted on over to the pasture in which Kathryn was
pastured in.When we arrived to the gate Duncan was surprised to catch a scent he's smelled
before but not here. He squealed loudly, and in the distance you could see Kathryn stop and
raise her head to the noise. She trotted closer to the gate but stopped 20 feet away from the
gate. I popped the gate open as I signaled Duncan to move into the pasture, then shut the gate.
I lift the rope then give a toss and failed... Kathryn bolted after my first fail.

Training in the Round Pen (part 1)
After 3 fails and 15 minutes, I captured Kathryn. It took a bit of time to lead the mare
with the rope, but eventually she gave in and somewhat followed as we made it to the
round pen. I tossed the rope over her back as I opened the round pen gate to let her run.
After half a minute, she had helped herself to removing the loose rope. It took her a few
tries of pulling the rope in different places and she managed to pull in the right spot to slip
off the rope. She prances around then stops and realizes I was watching her. She snorted and
paced on the opposite side of the round pen that I was on. I left Duncan tied up to the post
outside the round pen. I grabbed the rope that Kathryn threw on the ground, and walked
towards her. I slowly moved the rope around and then increased my motions into swings.
I put pressure on her to make her run some laps around the pen. I had her run laps for a
couple of minutes, then stopped and turned away. Surprisingly, she unlike most, approached
me immediately after I had turned and started to walk away. I held my breath for a moment
in shock, and alert but then I remembered she has a very kind spirit. I stood for a moment
then slowly looked over at her. When I was able to read that she was comfortable, I moved
to face her. I lifted my hand and lightly placed it on her nose. While standing in place, she
did a tiny jump but quickly settled down and didn't freak out.

Training in the Round Pen (part 2)
I spoke to her softly to try and calm her. She let me pet her a few times, and when I
started to pet her forehead she snapped at me but luckily didn't actually bite me or
intend for it to actually reach me. I took her sign and released pressure and just pushed
her to run a few laps around the pen. After half a minute of running her around the pen,
I had stepped away to grab the halter and lead I planned using for her. I turn around with
the halter in my hands and Kathryn right in front of me. I held up the halter slowly in front
of Kathryn to allow her to check it out. She moved her nose towards the halter, then began
to feel it with her lips. A couple of times she tried to pick it up but then would spook from
it's movement. I lifted the halter and moved it towards her slowly. She backed up but then
turned her head towards the halter. She suddenly turned away and then began to run laps
around the round pen on her own. So I put pressure on her to change direction. I let her
run it out for half a minute then I turned away once again and walked to towards the gate.
This time when she followed I gave her some pets on her face, then slowly reached to stroke
her forehead. I was able to manage petting her on her forehead so I gave some nice scratches
and pets up and down her face for about half a minute before I started to stroke her on her
jaw, and closer to her ears. I gradually made it to the ears and her upper neck. Kathryn had
jumped back a couple of times but seemed to be more relaxed by the minute. After 5 minutes
had passed I stepped away to release all pressure to see if she'd still follow my draw.

First Halter - Part 1
I had practiced a few different things with Kathryn until she'd gotten used to things.
Then I gave her a half hour break before I continued helping her learn the halter is
no threat so that if I manage to get the halter onto the nervous mare, there was no
trouble. I entered the pen and Kathryn walked to the gate to greet me. I reached
out but then she snapped at the air and ran off nervous. I picked up the halter and
and lightly began to swing the lead around to put pressure on her to make her run
a few laps with a few turns before I turned away from Kathryn again. This time
when she had reached my side, I lifted the rope up towards her face when got too
close. I slowly turn around as I move the rope towards her. Kathryn had backed up
about 2 feet then lowered her head and just stood. So I stepped back to make a
draw and she moved in. I then moved the rope up by her face and then in motion
along her neck but not actually touching. I repeated a few times then began to
rub her with the rope starting on her jaw and down her neck. I repeated this a
few times on both sides before attempting to slip the halter over her head. I
reached for Kathryn's ears and rubbed them for up to 20 seconds before slipping
the halter on to ensure she was less likely to snap at me. I was able to manage
petting her on her forehead so I gave some nice scratches and pets up and down
her face for about half a minute before I started to stroke her on her jaw, and
closer to her ears. I then put pressure on her to run around the round pen so
she could get a feel of wearing the halter.

First Halter - Part 2
I kept hold of the lead rope and only giving light tugs from time to time to get her
used to the halter giving pressure. After a couple of times lightly tugging her lead
she started to get confused and bucked. I suddenly turned away and began to walk
away. I allowed the Lead rope to slip my hand to allow her to make her choice without
pressure from the halter just yet. Kathryn reacted to the rope as it dropped. Instead of
coming to me right away she got nervous about the rope dangling. She pranced around
jumping and bucking a couple of times. she had even nearly tripped a couple of times
but then seemed to start learning how to move around the dangling rope. After she had
settled down she moved towards me. I was standing leaning against the gate to allow the
mare space as she got used to the lead rope and halter. As she walked up to me she kept
snorting then nuzzled me a couple of times on my arms. I stroked the mare on her face
and then grabbed hold of the lead rope. I reached out to Kathryn to give her a few
strokes on her neck before moving away from her to create a draw instead of actually
leading her. I wanted her to first get used to the idea to walk along with me as I lead
her. From time to time I'd move the lead around to make movement to the halter so
she didn't forget I had the rope. After around 3 minutes walking her with the lead I
had opened up the Round Pen. Luckily no Neravontiis were loose on my Ranch because
if she got lose I'd just have to worry about capturing her in closed property. Luckily she
didn't tug harshly enough to rip free. That's until we passed by Duncan who snapped at
the air and pawed at the ground. When I tied up Kathryn I first tied her to a more distant
post from Duncan. I allowed her a few minutes to get used to being tied before I brought
Duncan over to a post that was about 7 feet away from Kathryn's post. I walked Duncan
over and made sure he didn't have too much rope.

First Halter - Part 3
Since he was good being tied, he knew the limits when the lead is short. I stepped
away from the two to allow them to get to know one another while Kathryn learns to
understand the halter and being tied. As soon as I stepped away there was thudding,
squealing and snapping. I held my breath as I watched the two. Kathryn nervous and
tugging at the rope, while Duncan was interested in the mare but also kept bullying
her and showing off. Out of nowhere Kathryn tugged at the rope and had slipped and
went tumbling backwards. For a short moment, she was sitting on the ground before
she stood up and shook all the dirt off. She then started to stay closer to the pole and
just moved to another side of it to keep her distance from Duncan. There were a couple
more times that she seemed to have forgotten the limit of the rope and gave some good
tugs until she had given up. After about 5 minutes had passed I untied Duncan and moved
him to a further post so that I could safely untie Kathryn. When I untied Kathryn I walked
her back and forth past Duncan. After passing by Duncan a few times I decided to walk her
around the ranch. She had pranced proudly as if she was following rather than because of
the halter. Her ears perked the entire time, and was showing off prancing, as we passed
other Neravontiis of mine in their pastures. A majority of my Neravontiis are used to me
bringing home more to join one of the herds. I had walked her around for at least 20
minutes around my ranch making laps before I had finally put her back inside of her
own pasture. Then I went to put Duncan away in another pasture next to Kathryn's
that had a few mares.

First Saddle

Postby KathrynKat » Sun Jul 28, 2019 10:35 pm

2 weeks of Ground Work Before Saddling Up
I had worked with Kathryn for 2 weeks, doing common ground work
practices as a daily routine. She was beginning to not be too nervous
around me day by day. Everyday I'd take her to the Round Pen or Training
Arena and focus on a few things per few days before starting on new things.
Practiced things from commands I may use on ground and while in saddle.
Whoa, Go, Trot, and other cues. I've worked on getting her used to me
jumping at her sides. I've done a bit of bomb proof work as well. I've a
few times have had Duncan and Kathryn around each other to try and
get them used to each other. They've managed to snip at each other
and wack each other with their tails a few times. However it seems
that they're getting along better today. She seems to be understanding
things and hasn't even spooked today from any objects I've been using for
the past 2 weeks. Tarps, Rolling Tires, Walking through the pond, River,
and small pool. She barely spooked when a vehicle was started just 5
feet away from her.

Wearing a Blanket for the first
I've decided after a couple of weeks working on Kathryn, that it was time to really prepare her,
to meet the saddle and Bridle! I went to gather a saddle, bridle, and blanket. I had placed all of
the props by the round pen, then went to collect Kathryn. However, I decided to bring the blanket
to toss over her back, when I bring her to the round pen. I made my way to the pasture I've been
keeping her inside of. Once I reached the gate I whistled for Kathryn and she instantly responded
and made her way to me. She greeted me at the gate and nuzzled me. I stroked her on the face
and then slipped her halter on. I tossed the lead rope over my shoulder as I move to her side. I
unfolded the blanket then tossed it over her back as I had with practicing with a tarp. I swung
the blanket onto her back then buckled it the few straps. She looked at me strangely and even
twitched and jumped a few times as I walked her around her pasture first to get her used to the
feel of the blanket. I pulled out a few baby carrots from my pocket and offered them to her. She
crunched away the carrots and nuzzled me again. I patted her on the neck then walked her over
to the round pen with the blanket still over her back. While walking to the round pen I had not
noticed the reason she seemed a bit distracted. As I arrived to a post to tie Kathryn to, I jumped
when suddenly the blanket was flying at me. Kathryn had unbuckled the blanket and figured
out how to remove it. "I guess you're not a fan of blankets, let's hope you don't mind the saddle!"
I said to Kathryn as I laughed a bit. I picked up the blanket and set it aside after tying up Kathryn.

First Saddle (Part 1)
I patted Kathryn on the neck, then went to the tack room to grab a couple of different
saddles. I planned today to just get her used to the saddle and not to mount her for
extra time being how nervous she can easily get and I didn't want to damage her training.
I even brought out a couple of different saddle pads and harness. I set the variety of tack
out on a post, then went back to untie Kathryn. I patted Kathryn on the neck as I walked
her towards the post I had placed all the tack. She's over time seen tack laying around
and has been around it but has never had one on yet. I let her check out all of the tack,
then tied her to a post near the tack. I went back to grab couple different saddle pads.
I walked up to Kathryn and held both of the saddle pads up to her nose. I let her sniff
them out then I held it close to her face then rubbed it down her neck. I then slipped
the saddle pad onto her back, and moved to her other side to use the other blanket to
repeat the same step. I slipped the second pad over the other then slipped both off.
I walked to the other side of Kathryn and just set them back on her back, then went
to grab a saddle. I return seeing Kathryn with her head turned back sniffing the saddle
pads. She stopped one of her hind feet a few times as I got closer and closer with the
saddle I selected. She moved her head towards the saddle as I reached her again. I let
her sniff it out before I began to swing the saddle around while beside her. I moved to
her other side and repeated. I then swung the saddle onto her back, let it sit for 3
seconds then removed it and repeated on the other side but left it 5 seconds.

First Saddle (Part 2)
I decided it was best to move Kathryn to the round pen before fastening the saddle,
in case Kathryn might need to run a few laps as she gets used to the saddle. I removed
the saddle and saddle pads, and had went to place them on the fence of the round pen.
I went back to gather Kathryn then walked her over to the round pen. When we entered.
I picked up both of the saddle pads and repeated the steps I had done before of placing
them on either side. Then moved back to the saddle again. Once I set the saddle on her
back, she began to get a bit nervous and moved to the side. I let her figure things out
before moving on to the next step. Once she had settled, I went to very slowly fasten
the saddle to allow her to get used to the pressure. I gave pressure and release a few
times, before I finally fully fastened the saddle onto her back. I then removed Kathryn's
halter and allowed her to do as she felt needed to get used to the saddle. After I had let
her roam the pen for a few minutes I created a draw for Kathryn to return. She walked to
me a bit jumpy. I placed my hand on her nose then I reached out and patted her on the neck.
I walked along side her to the saddle and then began to unfasten the saddle. I prepared the
saddle to get it removed. Soon as I removed the saddle Kathryn had bolted and began to buck
and kick around in the pen running laps. So I held onto the saddle and just waited for her to
calm down before I set the saddle back on the fence. After about 20 seconds, she had began
to settle down then looked at me and the saddle pads she had thrown to the ground. I went to
collect the saddle pads after I placed the saddle on the fence. I picked up the saddle pads and
waved them around and shook them off. I walked towards Kathryn waving the saddle pads and
even slapping them together. Kathryn got a bit spooked, but after pressure and release repeating
and doing different things with the saddle pads. Kathryn had finally started to understand that
there was no threat. I walked up to Kathryn and let her sniff the pads. I hung them up then
picked up the lead rope and had slipped it back onto Kathryn. Our work with the saddle was
done for the day. I had walked around the ranch with Kathryn for 10 minutes before releasing
her back into her pasture.

First Ride

Postby KathrynKat » Sun Jul 28, 2019 10:36 pm

Kathryn's First Ride Story

As usual I work slower with Kathryn and that is no different for being riden. I decided today to work on her in her pasture.
So I went to the barn and grabbed her halter, bridle saddle and grooming kit. I set all the stuff down at a picnic table by her pasture and called for her. I had halter in hand and walked over to the gate to greet her. To get her started and not rush into tacking her up I walked and trotted her around the pasture in Hope's it might keep her a little more calm while being tacked and mounted for the first time.

After a little warm up with some ground work included, I walked Kathryn up by the gate and tied her to the fence. I left the pasture to set her tack on the fence to grab it when ready go tack after grooming. I got back to Kathryn with the grooming kit and began to clean the area the saddle will be
I spoke to her and stroked her as I brushed her. About 10 minutes later got her mostly cleaned up and ready for some training. I pulled the saddle pads from under the saddle and set them onto Kathryn's back carefully. Then went to grab the saddle. As the stirrup on the other side if the fence clinked against the wood, Kathryn spooked and moved to the side a couple feet with her head high. I walked closer to her with the saddle but towards her face and stopped and held it infront of her a moment to remind her it wasn't a threat. She snorted after sniffing it and moved her head away again. She didn't move her body away this time though so I took it a sign safe to move slowly. I spoke to her as I swung the saddle a few times beside her then repeated on the other side. I got the saddle in place then fastened the saddle to her then unclipped her halter to allow her to run a bit. Soon as I unclipped her she backed up and reared a bit then trotted off with a few bucks after a few minutes of bucks and kicks and throwing firs she finally returned to me. I gave her a rewards scratch along with a small treat hidden in my pocket.

I grabbed her by the halter and clipped the lead back to it, then unbuckled the nose strap and had the halter around her neck as I got her bridle on. It was the first she wearing a real bridle, so there will be no bit included. I got her bridle on then moved to her saddle to tighten it more. Then removed her halter and took her by the reins to walk her around a bit to get her settled into the tightened saddle. I stopped Kathryn then practiced slapping the stirrups and putting weight on both sides a few times before getting on for reals. I pull myself up higher then lean over on the saddle and look up towards Kathryn's ears to read her body language. She began to get nervous and move so I gently asked her to stay in place with her reins then slid off when she stood still to teach her moving isn't rewarded. I patted her on the neck then lifted myself into the saddle again. It took couple tries and couple repeats of steps before actually finally sitting in the saddle. I sat up and slipped my other foot into the stirrup on the other side. I collected the reins gently then gently asked her to walk with the signals I've taught her. Kathryn moved forward a few steps then suddenly reared up and kicked a couple times. She then suddenly stopped and things seemed okay for a moment until I felt her the saddle rustling differently. She had figured out already how to unclip the saddle within first attempt. Suddenly I felt one of the reins get yanked from my hand then she reared up as she got suddenly pressure she had put on her own head when tugged. I slipped off the saddle and landed on the ground and second later the saddle landed ontop of me with the saddle blankets on my face. I quickly tossed the tack to the side and rolled myself over the tack and then picked it up and put it back on the fence. "I guess that'll be it for today then!" I allowed Kathryn to settle down before removing her bridle and leaving with the tack to put it back for the next day's training.

First Trail Ride

Postby KathrynKat » Sun Oct 13, 2019 12:47 pm

Kathryn's First Trail Ride
Twelve days later after working on getting Kathryn used to being mounted, ridden, and listening to cues. She had finally stopped getting nervous and was able to work smoothly. I tacked up Macy & Kathryn while two of my staff insisted tagging along for the ride, and to help encourage and teach Kathryn. So they tacked up Lola and Zachary. I had a lead Kathryn and ponied her while I rode Macy for the start of the ride, to get Kathryn used to things and see how she does first before actually riding her.

We were all ready and set on the trail ride. The 3 siblings were only in bareback tack with just neck reining while Kathryn had full tack set on. I gave Macy the cue to pick up speed then looked over to the side at Kathryn who I was leading along side Macy. We picked up speed again as we made it into a grassy field. Kathryn seemed to enjoy it so we stopped for a break and I worked on Kathryn in the open. After 10 minutes of ground work in the open I mounted up onto Kathryn while one of my workers watched after Macy. Kathryn stood well so I mounted upon her and then asked her to walk. Kathryn rose her head high and looked around and twitched her skin constantly everytime she randomly stopped when not asked. She's not used to the open on Earth yet. I patted Kathryn on the neck and spoke to her while she got nervous to try and soothe her before asking for much more just yet. I managed to draw her attention then asked her to canter and we lapped a few times in the field before she suddenly bucked and reared when she heard a random bang possibly from a car in the distance. I patted her on the neck and headed towards the workers and told them I was ready to continue onto the trail.

They got mounted up onto Lola & Zachary while one riding Lola lead Macy. Kathryn rose her head high once again as we walked onto the trail to continue our walk before going back home to the ranch. Everytime Kathryn heard wild animals she would raise her head and stop and observe. Once was a family of deer. I was worried if any of my Neravontiis be tempted to hunt them so we picked up speed on the trail to distract them and get them further away from the deer. Once heard a Coyote howl and it spooked Kathryn some causing her to walk off to the side a few times. We decided on take a path that lead to a semi busy road to try and train Kathryn. She already knew that cars are safe and has been around running vehicles extra to try and ensure safety for trail rides and loading in trailers. We trotted the path to the road to take a little more energy out of the Neravontiis to have a calmer ride home along the road.

We had reached the road and Kathryn rose her head, ears perked up, and constantly stopping then constantly sniffing at the air. I allowed my workers to ride ahead of me to encourage Kathryn that it's okay! She followed the others without me giving her cue and followed them closely. Some time had passed and we were almost home when a Motorcycle had zipped by and spooked Kathryn. She reared up but I managed to stay on. Once her front legs met the ground I swung 1 arm to side pulling her head that direction to turn her in a few circles. I had hoped it settled her but she only got slightly dizzy for a couple seconds but then squealed then sniffed at the air and dashed towards home. I looked back and waved to my workers with a grin. I encouraged Kathryn to go faster and leaned forward over her neck as she sped up. "You wanna run, I'll make you run full speed, let's go go go go!" I laughed as Kathryn snorted and bobbed her head but seemed more focused on me than being spooked now and running because I asked her to. We had finally reached home and made it past the main gates. She was for sure warn and tired after her first trail ride and was ready for a grooming and to be released into her pasture. I groomed her while my workers arrived with the siblings. After we got all the Nearvontiis cleaned up we released them together in a pasture. I've been working on getting Kathryn used to ZeKorra's offspring as a herd as they seemed her fit not to mention I plan to pair her with Duncan whose Lola's son.
