Gender: Tom

Prompt: Dawnpool loved to play with his fellow apprentices. His favorite activity was pounce practice, and he got pretty good at leaping out of the bushes onto unsuspecting warriors. As the promotion ceremony to senior apprentice drew nearer, he could barely contain his excitement.
I can't wait to learn how to be a warrior! I hope I can make my clanmates proud of me.A few days before the promotion ceremony was scheduled, Dawnpool was surprised to find his leader and medicine cat waiting for him that sunrise. They looked at each other for a moment until Shadowstar nodded at the other cat. She took a deep breath before speaking.
"Dawnpool, I've requested that Shadowstar make you my apprentice when you're promoted,"
Dawnpool could hardly believe his ears.
Have I not been training hard enough? Am I not as good as the others?? He tried to speak but couldn't get out more than a mumble. He looked out to his clan and noticed a few warriors watching the three cats and his ears began to burn hot. This was so embarrassing! He wasn't good enough to become a warrior and all of his clanmates knew it. His eyes darted back to his medicine cat, noticing a look of concern on her face.
"Dawnpool, are you alright? It's understandable that you might not think you deserve this honor, but I think you'd make a really great medicine cat some day,"
"What? This isn't a punishment? Because I'm a bad apprentice?"
Rainberry laughed kindly. "No, silly. Shadowstar and I have been searching for a cat to be my apprentice for many moons and I think you are the one," She looked over at Shadowstar before continuing. "Of course, you don't have to accept this position. But if you do, I'm positive that you'll contribute more to your clan and be able to help your clanmates in ways you can't even imagine,"
It was a lot to consider for a young cat, and Dawnpool asked for a few days to think about it. This wish was granted to him and he spent the next few sunrises contemplating his future. He had always seen himself as a warrior, like his parents and older siblings, and hadn't ever thought about being a medicine cat. He flip-flopped between the two paths for two whole days, and the night before his ceremony, he still hadn't decided.
While he slept, he dreamed about his camp, sometime in the future. He saw himself, older, more confident in his abilities, more sure of himself. He was checking a young cat for wounds, probably after a battle, or perhaps a fox attack. He felt in awe of this vision, of what his future might become if he chose the path of a medicine cat, and knew at that moment what he must tell his leader.
When he woke, he rushed to the leader's nest and told him his decision, confident and eager to serve his clan.
