Kalons-- a species with soft manes and even softer hearts.
Monitored in forests across the globe for years, these animals
have recently been declared naturally tame as well as sapient.
Scientists are asking the general population to consider adopting
Kalons for further study in their capabilities of intelligence.

Their shining tails are used for identification and showing off,
which is helpful when spotting another Kalon from afar. This
association with other Kalons is why they are head-over-heels
for any shiny or colorful item that they come across!

since the piece is called meditation, for this kal I want you to explain their relationship with meditation!

examples of questions you can answer can be: why do they meditate? how do they do so? perhaps they have an odd past with it? or maybe they use it for some sort of communication/power? you're certainly not limited to these and can go any which way with the prompt! <3

One white stone.

It was hard sometimes, repeating the mantra, the mediation, but it was a small, worthy price to pay if she wanted to remember.

She had come here years ago with nothing but a name- Maren-, not even memories, and the temple had taken her in, teaching her ways to settle her rattled soul.

The only memory she still had was a single white stone, a memory they told her to repeat.

One white stone.

A sight of a home blazing with a verdant fire crossed the vision of her closed eyes. She winced, but the mantra continued, the one they had taught her so long ago.

One white stone.

The walls of home.

Burned and crumbled down.

Another image came, and she opened her eyes, her breath too ragged to keep going. It was a flash of blackened stone, and the earth scorched with a mark of magic. Her magic, the very magic she called upon to help center herself when her meditation began.

Perhaps she had forgotten for a reason, and dredging through lost memories would only bring it back.

But she had to keep doing it, she had to remember.

Her eyes closed, and her breath stilled again.

One white stone.

➻ Amani opened her eyes and looked over to the clock, 1:30AM, she groaned and rolled away from it as she could almost feel it mocking her attempts to sleep. She grabbed her phone and quickly chose a familiar playlist simply named "Sleep", she hit play and closed her eyes once again as the music began to play. She focused on the soft tones as well as her own breathing, in then out, soft and rhythmic like the music, her mind still wandered through the distractions of the past day and the day ahead but she gently reigned it back in. Amani had learned you can't yank a wandering mind back into meditation but you must gently lead it back as you might do with a child. In then out her breathing continued as she focused on the music, the days melted away and instead she could almost see the music, it danced around in her mind and gently pulled her into sleep. It felt like only moments had passed when she opened her eyes again now greeted by a peaceful morning and a more peaceful clock, 8:00AM, meditation had saved her from a sleepless night yet again. The temple was quiet, the only sounds were the groups hushed breathing.

Birds chirped and water bubbled in fountains outside.

"Breathe in."

Take in the incense. Let your minds become clouded.

She watched her meditation class collectively inhale.

"Breathe out."

A single, gentle release of breath.

Their eyes were closed, but her's remained open. They didn't need to know that.

"Breathe in."

From the corner of the room, movement. A small shape stirred in the shadows. She gave a tiny nod, and it moved forward.

"Breath out."

The sleek brown weasel scurried over without a sound, staring at her intently as it waited for her command.

"That's it…let the weight of the world be lifted from your shoulders."

She gave another tiny nod, and watched as the weasel got to work.

"Breathe in."

He was a master of stealth, going from person to person to see what he could grab. Gold coins, rings, bracelets. Anything of value.

"Breathe out."

And just as fast as he came, he left without a trace back into the shadows.

"Now let us open our eyes."

Relaxed faces. Sleepy smiles. Oblivious expressions.

Her own tiny smile.

"There. Don't you all feel lighter now?"

Meditation is an important part of Dana’s daily routine. She believes strongly in the psychological and physical affects of combining it with aromatherapy as she sits on her balcony full of every plant imaginable - her safe haven. This experience allows her to clear her head before sitting down to attempt to write her novels. The publishers always tell her that they’re not realistic enough so Dana’s just hoping to write a good enough story one day to finally get her big break. She’s never been published... yet.
