and if you're looking for an actual answer to your question, the main way to get better is with practice! ^^ using a lot of references (both of photography and artwork, but mostly photography) helps too :D

the best advice i can give is to not be too hard on your own art! i'm not good with words but i think that (pretty much) all art with effort put behind it is good art ^^
