Birdsong isn't sad over her missing foot; she's gotten around just fine without that since she lost it at just three moons old. She isn't sad because she's been bullied for being hairless, either; she's actually quite confident in the beauty of her appearance. Birdsong is sad because she lost her beloved foster daughter: Echo.

Birdsong, when she was a rogue known only as Bird, found an injured young owl at the base of a tree. Assuming that the owlet had fallen from her nest, she checked the entire tree for the young bird's home, but found nothing. Bird carefully carried the young owl home, knowing that she wouldn't be able to survive on her own. She named the owlet Echo, and cared for her as she would her own kits, until, finally, Echo was old enough to fly. Unfortunately, during her first day out flying, a terrible storm struck the forest, and Echo never returned home. Bird was heartbroken, and couldn't muster the energy to hunt for days. She was found by a Clan patrol, and brought back to their camp to be nursed back to health. Since Echo still hasn't returned, and the chance of her having survived the violent storm is low, Birdsong believes her beloved owlet to be dead.

sandbreeze recently met a tomcat, but he's a loner outside of the clan and the leader hates outsiders.

he goes out late at night to see the tom named hawkeye, and he claims that he used to be in melodyclan. although this may give him a chance to rejoin, this also may mean that he was exiled. sandbreeze is afraid that hawkeye is secretly a bad cat, and if he continues to meet him he could be exiled too for associations.

he's sad because he has to choose between a cat he's starting to catch feelings for and his duties as a senior warrior.
