Prompt: She carried herself with such a bold audacity - one that, if she wasn't wearing that warm grin on her face, would've made her appear even more threatening than any Elil Moorbeck-Rah had ever met.
Moorbeck watched as this confident doe strode through her camp, a million thoughts racing through her skull. Who was she, and how could she be so sure of herself in such trying times as these? Moorbeck almost had a strange sense of admiration for the doe, but quickly shook the feeling away. Admirable or not, this rabbit was still an intruder, and intruders had to be dealt with accordingly.
Moorbeck quietly darted into the rubble of a fallen fleshy den, peering out at the strange rabbit as she made her way through the territory. Occasionally she'd pause, sniff the air, and look around, but for the most part, it appeared as though she didn't notice Moorbeck's presence.
After several minutes, the doe's smile faltered slightly. She turned towards Moorbeck's hiding spot, causing the leader's breath to hitch in her throat. The doe never spoke a word - just slowly, carefully made her way towards the fleshy den, the corners of her grin twitching.
Moorbeck would've run off, if not for her pride refusing to let her be seen as a coward.
The leader cautiously stepped out of her brick and mortar den, giving a small jump as the foreign doe laughed heartily. "I had a feeling someone was hiding here!" she chuckled, sitting back on her haunches. "Was hoping for it, too - not a lot of rabbits around these parts. There's strength in numbers, y'see, and right now, I think we'd need all the numbers we can get, yeah?"
Moorbeck blinked once, twice, her confusion evident in her eyes before they narrowed dangerously. "You speak as though we're friends," the leader challenged, "yet I've never seen the likes of you before. What brings you to the Council?"
The doe tilted her head, that unsettling smile never once leaving her face. "Likes of me?" she quipped curiously, leaning forward. "And what would you mean by that, dear?"
Moorbeck almost shuddered under the doe's gaze. "You walk as if you have no fear," she said, mentally applauding herself for not allowing her voice to quiver. "As if there's nothing to fear."
The doe let the words sink in for a moment, then replied, "Well, fear is only a concept in which most tend to be held back by. I embrace it - a good dose of fear every now and then is healthy, I'd say. Wouldn't you agree?"
Moorbeck was both baffled and impressed by the doe's words. On one hand, such an ideology could lead to reckless endangerment of the Council. But on the other, her confidence could empower the Council.
"What is your name?" Moorbeck finally settled on, allowing herself to relax.
The doe giggled in amusement. "They call me Edgar," she purred. "Now how's about you? What do they call you?"
"Moorbeck-Rah. I am the leader of the Council of the Fallout."
Edgar nodded at the leader's response. "Sounds cool," she said casually. "So this whole area is yours?"
"Indeed." Moorbeck dipped her head, glancing back at the fleshy den before turning to Edgar once more. "What brings you here?"
Edgar paused slightly, almost as if hesitating. This did not go unnoticed by Moorbeck. "Do you not wish to say?"
"N-no, it's not that," Edgar finally sighed. "...These dreadful monsters, they... They attacked my old warren. Only a few of us got away, but some were picked off by those dreadful sky beasts. I don't know what they were, I've never seen anything like them-"
"Infected."
Edgar blinked. "Come again, dear?"
Moorbeck sighed and repeated, "Those are the Infected. They're results of the Flashing Death. I do agree with what you said earlier - strength in numbers, and all that. It's best to stay with a warren."
"I see..." Edgar nodded. "You said you were the leader of a council...? Is that like a warren?"
Moorbeck chuckled. "More or less, I suppose."
"Don't suppose you got room for one more?" Edgar asked hopefully. "Those Infected or whatever... I don't think I'd ever wanna see another one again, long as I live."
"I don't blame you," Moorbeck sighed, before offering a warm smile to the doe. "Welcome to the Council, Edgar. I'm sure we'd be happy to have you."
