Meet Frostheart
(note: minor mention of blood and death)
Frostheart's world turned on its head when her mother passed, leaving her and her elder sister, Bearpaw, orphaned as their father was no where to be found. Placed under two feuding mentors, the sisters were pitched head-to-head often as the mentors used their apprentices to attempt to prove their dominance over one another. With the increasing tension and pressure, Frostpaw slowly began to fall behind her stronger sister and slowly she began to feel as though the eyes of her clanmates were glowering at her, viewing only disappointment as she lingered in Bearpaw's shadow. A wedge slowly drove between the two, and the tension grew to an all time high during a hunt when Bearpaw stole Frostpaw's prey. An argument broke out between the two, and a hidden deal was made between the two to meet up at night, alone, and hunt to prove who was better.
As the sun fell and the moon rose, the sisters slipped away together into the woods. There, the hunt began. Determined to get back at her sister and prove she was better, Frostpaw hunted diligently. But when Bearpaw pounced first, killing a squirrel the two had been stalking without knowing the other was there, Frostpaw's anger erupted. She lunged forward and struck her sister, clawing her face.
The situation escalated and diffused quickly as Frostpaw's rage leveled and she realized what she had done. She feared for what may happen to her when the clan found out, but Bearpaw's heart was soft for her sister. When they returned and Bearpaw's wound was discovered, she lied to her clan to cover for her sister.
Since then, the two made no contact. Bearpaw grew into Bearfur, and Frostpaw followed a few months after with the name of Frostheart. Bearpaw was highly favored in the clan and drew the attention of many clanmates, while Frostheart remained bitterly in her shadow.
Her world would turn over once more when Bearfur approached her and asked her to go on patrol. Frostheart reluctantly agreed, and the two set off to walk the border. Alone, Bearfur attempted to approach her sister, explaining her heartache at their separation. Enraged, Frostheart exploded once more. They argued, and as Frostheart's anger began to peak again, she turned away from her sister and fled, leaving the border of the clan and dashing off through the forest. Full of regret and concern for her sister, Bearfur followed after her and tracked her through the forest, along the coast, and to a strange part of land - one where the trees stood in a circle around a great stone which stood in shallow water. There, Frostheart stood, breathing heavily with a glower of frustration shining in her eyes. Bearfur approached her and spoke harshly, and an argument broke out once more. The she-cats yowled and hissed at each other before the great shimmering stone, circling one another as a fight slowly brewed. It all came to a sizzling stop as a great shadow extended over them, and the two she-cats stared in horror at a beast of immeasurable size who Bearfur got her name-sake from as it reared up and let out a bellowing roar.
Bearfur's anger fled and she shoved her sister, ordering her to run and turning to face the bear in hopes to buy Frostheart time. Frostheart, frozen in fear and shock, remained where she stood, leaving Bearfur no choice. The she-cat rushed the bear, targeting a leg. When blood hit Frostheart's face, her senses lurched back to the present and she fled, tears filling her eyes.
She returned alone, exhausted and her fur still dirtied. She entered her clan, hoping for refuge and comfort, but only meeting rage. The clan accused her of murdering her sister and banished her, threatening to kill her if they saw or smelled her again. She fled in horror, leaving Wolf Forest and entering its neighbor. There, she wandered for many moons - exhausted and broken - until she was found and brought to Cinderclan. Sanctuary was found at last as she was granted home within the clan, her sister's spirit watching over her with pride.
From her broken entrance into Cinderclan, Frostheart's spirit was mended and forged back into that of a powerful and brave warrior. She stepped up, taking charge and responsibility for her clan, and caught the eye of Cedarstar. Within four moons, Frostheart was given the position of Deputy, and accepted with pride, feeling the presence of her sister beside her at all times.
