birds actually evolved 150 million years ago during the Jurassic period, meaning they were present for half and perhaps most of the eras of the Dinosaurs. If the controversial discovery of the Protoavis is to be trusted, birds may have actually evolved during the Triassic and were therefore present for the entirety of dinosaurs' reign.
