Name: Jean Constantine
Name Meaning: Depending on which version of the name they go with, the pronunciation and meaning changes. The french form comes from Jehan and is masculine. The English and Scottish versions come from the medieval English form of Jane, which is Jehanne, and is feminine. They chose this name for themself for those reasons and had their name legally changed from their birth name (Mary). They answer to either pronunciation of the name.

Their take on Magic & Science: May exist, but believes that it isn't what many make it out to be. Has seen 'magic' before, but doesn't recognize it as such
What's your take on Magic and Science?
"Magic and science? Well that's an interesting combination, considering that for much of history they were one and the same. Science it pretty set on what it is now, but magic is still a mystery. Are illusions magic? What about forces and things we don't quite understand that may eventually be understood through science?"
"Forces and things we don't quite understand", you're going back to things that seemed to be magic were learned and understood by science, or rather, can be studied by science. What about things science can't understand or explain?
"Science can't really explain anything, it gives us information, and allows us to figure out what is and isn't true. Those who do the explaining are those who interpret the data. Take a piece of uranium. Science helped us figure out why it's radioactive, the different types of uranium, but to get there someone had to come up with the ideas to test it, and then interpret it. The tough part about science is interpreting data objectively.
And in your objective opinion, what do you think about magic?
"Wow, you won't let it go will you?", they laughed in good nature, " Well, to be completely honest, there are things we don't understand in this world, and probably never will in our lifetimes, so they might as well be called magic for lack of a better term."
I'll be frank with you here, do you believe magic exists, and as an add on, what do you think the nature of magic is? We've all heard the reports of strange happenings across the globe, especially entire groups of people losing time, sometimes as much as an entire day. If it exists, do you believe it is good or evil?
"I'm going to answer this a bit in reverse, because it will help explain my answer to the first bit of your question. Magic, if it exists, is neutral. It's like money, in that sense. A dollar can be used to buy food for the poor, or it can be used to do unspeakable harm. It's a part of the world, even. Is nature evil because the hunters eat their prey? No, because they need to eat too. Is the sun good because it gives us life? No, because it can just as easily harm us. Magic is like that, it is in itself neutral, but people will put labels on it. Now, if magic is controlled by a person, then what that particular magic would be is whatever the person uses it to be. If they use it to harm others, then other people will see it as evil, if that same power is used to help, people will view it as good. That is if magic as most have come to think of it exists. I haven't seen enough of these strange events first hand to have an opinion either way. I do agree that they are strange, but we simply don't have enough information to determine either way. It could just as easily be something else. I don't know where this 'magic' business came from. I will say this, if magic does exist, it will turn our world upside down when that information comes to light, because it will. The truth always comes out..." her voice ended in a near growl, with a little bit of her teeth showing.
Alright, thank you for your time Ms. Constantine.
"It's just Constantine, I told you this when first started interrogating me. May I go now?"
Yes, you may leave. Please send in the Magnus Tolbert after you...
"He knows nothing about this, you know. I don't know why you're even questioning us. Good night."
Papers shuffles as the investigator goes through the file of the person he was really interested in. A tip had come in from his sources that this individual may know something about the---

END OF TAPE
Melanie Dunne smiled at the tape. She knew the viscet was lying about knowing nothing about magic, and especially Magnus. Jean Constantine may not have abilities, but they were protecting someone who did, and that made them her enemy. She was right about one thing... magic was a force of nature, and it could not be controlled.
