The things on the side of it's head are it's ears, which are kind of an aquatic reptilian sort of thing.
The eyes have two pupils & irises, the thing portion having slit pupils and the wide portion having round pupils.
The tails are long, thin, and extremely flexible, and I'm not really sure what the balls on the ends are for, they just looked good.
