Traditionally (according to the Warriors books), the nine lives of the clan leaders are given to them by cats in Starclan and each life is given with a meaning to represent how the clan leader is to use their lives. If you want to read more of how this works in the lore, check out this site.

To adopt this cat, tell me: If they were to give a life to a (future) clan leader, what would the meaning of that life be? You can go with a traditional meaning as above or something that fits the beliefs of your own clan if they are different. Or maybe this cat believes in Starclan when your clan does not. He was already an old cat when Wildkit came into the world. Wild was an adorable little fluff-ball, so full of energy and wonderful for the world. Whitefeather hated it. He wanted a peaceful life of his own, not have to deal with this ridiculous kit bothering him for stories of his 'adventures'.
. White wasn't a cat who liked journeys, or impossible escapades. He was set in his ways, and his way was to stay safe at home and take life one simple step at a time. So every day, when Wildkit and her siblings came in, he didn't really enjoy talking to them. He only did it so the other two elders wouldn't get on his case, plain and simple.

Whitefeather knew from the beginning this cat would be trouble. So when Wildkit became a 'paw and started going on midnight outings, he was the first cat to say ‘I told you so’. Wild was being ridiculous, and he told her exactly what he thought about her crazy adventures multiple times.
... It never seemed to stop her, though. Even when most of the Clan thought she was crazy, she kept going. The brown tabby had quite a lot of persistence, it seemed.

Even as a warrior, Wildsight kept up her flights of fancy, and Whitefeather kept frowning down at her ridiculous actions.
