"We had heard the noises from a mile off. High pitch chirping and tiny squeals and grunts. What was it? We were still on Vashta exploring we had just started to head back out after loading up the deravontii. Many animals fled when he charged, leaving some herd scattered and animals confused. It was easy to find the creature because of the noises. He was young, I marked the species, Tephlans. Not even up to my knee yet lay this calf. He went to stand abruptly and I rushed to grab him before he ran off and were left to the predators. His mom and herd were no where to be seen and showed no signs of coming back.. He was still when I approached him and held the hindquarters and chest so he couldn't bolt. The calf quivered within my hands with fear and anticipation, but quickly calmed down when I squeezed him up into my arms and cared him to the ship. We had a holding facility on Vashta to hold him and the deravontii over our stay without them having a chance to excape. Max will like him."~
