What Are Urodelas?

Urodelas - mammalia urodela (mammal salamanders)
Urodelas are canine creatures spliced with axolotl genes to give them external gills and a fishy tail. The gills mean they can breathe underwater, being able to dive for a full 24 hours or more.

Sort back story: Gene came from a family of royals. While his family loved the attention given to them by the people they ruled, Gene hated it. His family thought of themselves as better as everyone else, and acted like it too. Gene is outgoing and loves talking to people. He never thought of himself as better than others, or even anyone better than anyone else. Gene's family eventually pushed him over the limit. They attempted to put in a law that made rich people above everyone else, and the lower class people would be forced into slavery. Disgusted and angry, Gene yelled at his family and told them that what they were doing was disgusting, even more disgusting than what they already did. Gene's family reacted negatively. Instead of Gene's words getting though to them, they were angered. Gene was cast away from their kingdom and was told to never come back.
A few years passed and the law had been set into place. Sick of everything happening, Gene went back and overthrew his family, imprisoning them. Gene removed the law, now that he was king of his kingdom. Even though Gene is now king, he barely acts like it. He constantly has conversations with the "peasants" and helps people out when it is needed.
