So, Flirgibbets are the overarching species, this is just a specific breed of Flirgibbet. If you’re interested in looking at some other breeds I have a few more in my gallery and a whole lot more in my head!

Delta Flirgibbets dwell in marshy areas, most often in delta areas- hence the name. Their long legs and webbed paws help them to wade through the marshes, though they are capable swimmers as well. Their tail is kind of like a tadpole’s: the lighter part is a thin, transparent membrane/fin and the darker part is the normal tail. They have little webs at the edges of their jaw, as well as long whiskers (I don’t draw any other breeds with whiskers, but drawing these guys with whiskers makes them look cuter. So. Obviously they need whiskers)

Their belly is interesting... I haven’t quite worked it out from a biological standpoint.... like, why exactly does a cat creature need a transparent bellyful of water and fish? But it’s kind of fun to draw so I’m keeping it for now. :3 Maybe it’s a sort of symbiosis?? Like, they take in smaller fish that normally wouldn’t survive long in delta environments, and exchange for the shelter they use magic to help them subsist off of the fish’s extra energy or whatever... I don’t know. I might scrap that aspect of their design in the future, but again, it’s fun to draw so I’m keeping it for now.
