It's part of his very complicated background.
Mirage hears 'The Voice', who takes control, and makes Mirage do things without realising. He gets angry easily, and that's when he can lose control to 'The Voice'. He lost control once, and attacked and killed his parents, and crippled his brother Romulus, while in an insane rage.
He couldn't believe what he'd done, and ran away, to stay away from others, and stop himself from harming others.
So basically, Mirage killed them because he is evil and insane.
