★ What is a Celestial Dragon? ★
Celestial Dragons(CDs) are a small breed of dragon, closely related to Fu Dogs. They have a silky, ethereal mane that swirls and shines like a galaxy. They vary in size from a small fox to a large dog, and are covered in a thin coat of soft fur. Their pupils are star shaped, and every CD has a star marking in their coat or mane. Please make sure to read the species rules before trying out!

I've had this one sitting in my drawings for a while, but I decided it's time to post it. This is a transfer + slightly altered version of the design I did for the Artist Search, and I am quite attached to it.

For this comp, I'd like you to tell me what their favorite color is, and just what it means to them. You have one extra for either writing or art (art must be related to the prompt). Writing must be unrelated. Follow species' rules and do not be rude if you don't win.

favorite color and what it means to them; Lucky's favorite color would easily be dark purple. Every night, the sky goes from bright blue to a swirling mass of dark purple littered with white dots. Whenever he saw the sky start to turn dark purple and the sun sinking on the horizon, he knew the stars would come out. But why, you ask, does he love the night? Where Lucky lives, the sun can easily warm the earth up to 98 degrees (F), if not more. And with his usual thick coat, he easily can overheat and get heat stroke. Yes, the early mornings and sunset were nice and cool, but the day was usually a miserable time for him. He still remembers getting overheated and stuck in the desert, panting, dehydrated, and too tired to swat flies away from him. Even with his mother trying her best to help him, he still suffered during the day. Only during the night would he truly thrive. During the day when he would flop onto the dusty dry earth and suffer, his mother comforted him, repeating, "Wait for the sky to turn dark purple, then the night will come with the big bright moon and you'll feel better." And now, everyday, he waits inside his cave, looking for the dark purple that would signal it was okay to come out.

favorite color and what it means to them; Tina adores the color green, nothing neon, but the bright hues of early spring heralding the return of life to the world, and the deep shades of summer when welcome heat seeps into her bones with a pleasant lethargy. To her, the color means a reprive from the bitter cold and scarce food of winter. It is fresh fruits sweet in the sun, and clumsy young pups to play with, and the refreshing comfort of a leafy canopy when the lazy heat of summer turns a touch too scorching for her favor. It was the color of her mother's eyes, peering down at Tina with love and pride and reassuring understanding when she was little and the world still so scary. The most prominent color in her mother's mane, as well, so warm and soft as she was all but enveloped by the thick mass, a welcome comfort when she was still tiny enough to enjoy it, during those frigid winter months.

It's the frogs who bellow so loudly in the night, calling in the refreshing rainstorms, and warning her of danger when they fall silent. It's the hum of cicadas and the songs of birds, the rustling of leaves in the wind, a symphony that celebrates the life and vitality of the world at its best and brightest. Glimmering green hummingbirds to paint the southern winds with their darting haste. Softer hued anoles to creep and scurry on weather worn boards, and hide amidst her mane if only she's still enough, before springing at the small little flies that had been bothering her so. The stubborn thriving of grass and weeds, even as they're trod upon and chopped down over and over again. The sweet perfume of cut alfalfa, and blooming bay leaves, and lucky little clovers. It's the herbs she eats whenever any pain or sickness plagues her, and it's the soft springy moss padding the inside of her den, as well as the thick wild brambles that protect her precious home.

It's the clamor and commotion, the comfort and the cheer, that chase away the, at times depressing, cold and isolation that suits her so very abysmally. Very nearly everything she loves and enjoys can in some way be tied back to the color, and as such, she favors green over any other.

favorite color and what it means to them;
Oliver's favorite color is yellow. As a child, he visited an art museum with his family where a print of Van Gogh's painting Sunflowers was on display. The chief curator of the gallery explained that Van Gogh's life was a troubled one filled with sadness and rejection, and that Van Gogh believed the color yellow was the physical manifestation of happiness. The idea of a color representing an emotion piqued young Oliver's interest and was the catalyst of his newfound motivation to pursue art.
From that point on, Oliver was constantly sketching. Whether he was at the dinner table, the park, or in class, he always had a notebook and pen with him. The subject matter that captured his attention most was flowers, just like in the Van Gogh painting he has seen.
As an adult, Oliver has bounced around from job to job with each one focusing on art in some way. He had spent time as a painter's assistant, but didn't quite like just being ordered to grab coffee and open windows. He was a grade school art teacher for some time, but after a parent tried to sue him because their child drank an entire bottle of glue, he figured it was best to move on from that. It was when he decided to display some of his works at a local gallery that he got his big break.
Now Oliver own his very own studio and has filled it with paintings, each of them featuring the color yellow. Dragons come up to him daily and tell him that his color choice has touched a deep-rooted sense of happiness within themselves whose existence they weren't even aware of. This reason alone is why he considers himself successful; not because he's a well-known artist, nor because he's able to sustain himself financially, but rather because he was able to take what the color yellow meant to him and touch the lives of the strangers who visit his gallery, sharing the most precious thing in existence: happiness.
