how does this cherub cat feel about their lack of sight?: cheyenne has pretty conflicted feelings about her identity and being blind. at times, she feels it defines her so intensely, like it's impossible to separate her and her blindness when it's so crucial to who she is, and she absolutely hates when people ignore it, just because she can live her life despite her blindness. other times, she feels like she shouldnt have to be defined by her blindness, and she utterly despises it when others focus too much on it, because she wants to be normal sometimes, she wants to feel normal. this drastic change in how she views both herself and her blindness often makes her feel like she doesnt really know herself, doesnt know who she is, doesnt know her purpose other than the weird blind kid to make fun of, or used as the poster child in patronizing campaigns meant to sell the idea of "fixing cherub cats like her."
how does this cherub cat cope with being blind?: cheyenne doesnt cope with her blindness, she accepts it. most of the time, at least. she knows her limits and what she can and cant do, and while her blindness does not define her entirely, it is an integral part of her identity that she doesnt want to live without, nor does she want people to ignore. being blind is a key part of the complex puzzle that is cheyenne--of who she is, who she has become, and who she will be--and she doesnt think she'd be the same person if she wasnt blind.
more often than not, cheyenne doesnt even know what she thinks and she has no idea what's going on most of the time, not even in her own head. most of her thoughts are about getting other cherub cats to understand that disabilities are not always so simple as they think. sometimes she loves her blindness, cherishes it as an experience that has shaped her, and sometimes she hates it, hates how it labels her as different without her consent, hates how it makes others treat her differently. she wants other cherub cats to understand that they just need to listen.
