WHAT IS A DEERSSERT?
Deerssert are a mystical, mythological species that appear in history every so often. Sightings grew sparser and sparser through the years, but now they've started to appear more and more. Here at the HQ, a centre dedicated to keeping these creatures from being hunted, we cannot foster them all-- and that's where you come in!

The simplest way to explain them? Deersserts are deer with a twist! While the specifics vary from deer to deer, they all have a few things in common. Deersserts have muscle, skin, fur and bone, but they are described as tasting like sweets. Their scent lingers so much that hides carry a fragrant scent even after death. Instead of fluffy tails, they have a pouf of whipped cream or ice cream [depending on the deer!] with some manner of fruit on top.

Size-wise, they're about the size of a border collie, but have been known to grow to the size of a horse in rare cirucmstances. [In even rarer circumstances, they have gotten bigger. This is the largest deerssert known.] Likewise, they are born as small as a full-grown rabbit, and some never progress past this size.

Ah my first Deerssert as a guest artist, I planned to do one sooner but I've been so busy recently and I'm piled up with commissions and other species stuff. But here's a little spoopy Deer for you guys! <3

Do they have troubles making friends, due to their odd looks?: Mina doesn't have too many troubles making friends. At first, she is quiet and mysterious to others. But once others get to know her they realize that she is super fun to be around, even though she scares them quite often. But she isn't always a scary lil deer. Though very few people know this, she absolutely loves night time. Laying down on the grass and staring in awe at the beautiful starry skies is one of her favorite pastimes, and those who know her well think this shows just how much of a unique and interesting deer she is. Every Halloween , after she and her friends go trick-or-treating, they stay around in the shadows when it gets really late to jump out and scare those who pass by. Don't worry, it's all in good fun. Though... she does tend to do some... creepy things. But who says being scary is a bad thing?

Actually, yes. Jessie often struggles making friends, on one hoof,
he has weird looks, according to others, but he finds them lovely,
in fact, he thinks that they are his best trait. But on the other
hoof, he has his past, many think that being raised in the woods
is terrible, and add in the fact that he enjoys dark magic that he
was taught there by a spirit, he is ultimately weird. So indeed, he
does have a hard time making friends, but he can always talk to
the spirits.

Do they have troubles making friends, due to their odd looks?:
A naturally bright disposition, great personality, inherently social, and all around people-oriented soul, you'd be amazed to find that he actually has an extremely difficult making friends. Now, that doesn't mean he's not well-liked and even popular; but it means there are very few living souls that know much of anything about him. Racked with social anxieties and trust issues, Bastille was bullied as a fawn for his strange looks and creepy markings. His parents didn't understand his issues, so often (without realizing it) ignored the problems and never truly helped their son. His markings didn't come from either of them, nor was it even remotely similar to the rest of his family, so they didn't know what to tell him. It was just some sort of hidden gene or stroke of luck that he developed the markings he did.

Having the looks he has, it's made Bastille grow up quickly and harshly, but he's still retained some of that childlike wonder about the world around him. If you asked Bastille back then, he would have hung his head in shame and stopped talking from embarrassment. Today, Bastille is proud of his markings and loves the look, but the anxiety and issues are so far ingrained, they've become a mask to his true personality. He likes it this way, though; it means the friends he does make are lifelong, and will never turn their back on him. It's given him surety that he won't get the backstabbers and traitors, if only for the fact that it takes so long for him to let down his walls and allow you to see inside. And with a personality as amazing as his, you'll want to stay his friend for life.

Since then, he's found solace and creativity in music, and with the "sugarskull look" increasing in popularity, he's been able to show his artistic side to the world. He and his group of friends are looking to start a small YouTube channel and get their music heard. He's looking to make a name for himself, eke out a niche in the world and, hopefully along the way, find that special Deer he could spend the rest of his life with.

Do they have troubles making friends, due to their odd looks?: It's not Mystique's looks that really make it hard for her to make friends, actually! Many people find her to be very alluring and charming as well as intelligent. Others have whispered about her being able to talk to somebody and making them do whatever she wants. What makes it so hard for her to make friends though is her business. It is hard to have a friend who believes in fortune telling and that fully supports you and your crazy knick-knacks, stories, and dealing with other spiritually-motivated people. Mystique's looks only help her show how much she is fascinated by the dead and doesn't mind talking to anybody about their future and often is able to do palm reading on the spot. She also loves to carry tarot cards on her 24/7 as well as a few other weird items to help “keep bad spirits away,” as she puts it. Overall though t isn't impossible for her to make a friend. It's just a little bit more difficult for her to find someone who supports her hobby and interests.

Aponi doesn't have trouble making friends, due to her appearance. That's not the case at all! There's a completely different reason as to why she doesn't make friends as easy as many other Deersserts do. She often gets compliments on how pretty she is, or how unqiue she looks, and she loves it. When she was younger, she used to think people were constantly making fun of her, but she always put up this wall and never really talked to many other deer until she became slightly older. Whenever they complimented her, she never knew how to take it, so she'd assumed the worse and always thought they were teasing her for her looks. However, she learned that they actually did like her looks a lot.

"Let's make this simple: I don't have many friends because I'm a jerk."
Aponi always considers herself as rude, which she may come off to be to many other deersserts. She rarely bothers to talk to anyone, even if they start the conversation with her, she will straight-up ignore them. Even if she thinks they're cool, but she's not in the mood to talk, she'll walk away. (& let me tell you, she never wants to talk!) When she eventually does make a friend, she eventually pushes them away accidentally because she's used to being lonely and not talking to anyone.

Even though she always knew nobody really made fun of her unique looks, she's still super nervous to have anyone talk to her about how she looks. She doesn't think she's beautiful, and is sometimes in need of a little boost of confidence. Of course, we have the occasional bullies who just tend to make fun of everyone out there, but she doesn't care. She just ignores them the best that she can. She always wishes she had a lot of friends, she was one of the popular deer, y'know? But things don't always work out the way you want them to. She is shy to actually make more friends than she currently has because she thinks they might make fun of her looks, like she thought about when she was young.
