Schrödinger's Cat

Postby Cerulean Wake » Mon Mar 20, 2017 2:30 pm

Ok so essentially the thing with Schrödinger's Cat is that if you put a cat in a box with a trap that will kill it 50% of the time, the cat is both dead and alive until you open the box because the probabilities haven't collapsed or something. It is a thought experiment that relates to quantum mechanics and the many world interpretation. <---- extreme oversimplification.

But anyways it inspired this drawing (also high-key channeling Tim Burton). Because I'm a nerd who likes cats.

My rough draft thing/ref I did in my sketchbook:

sorry for large image size (-_-; )

I've always been bugged by Schrödinger's Cat since the analogy doesn't seem logical to me based on my understanding of quantum mechanics (granted it's fairly limited to say the least), but this drawing is amazing! I really like the blocky 3D form of the cat and its two sides of its face! This looks so cool, the contrast of the black and white caught my attention immediately. Awesome work owo

I adore the style you used, high contrast with textures is the best.
I actually enjoy the Scheödinger cat theroy, I go about my daily life with the mentality nothing is set in stone úntil you see it with your own eyes.

Thank you! The crosshatching took a long time though... ( ̄▽ ̄;)

Thanks! It reminds me of German Expressionism (look it up)

Thank you! And yeah, the Schrödinger's Cat thing can be pretty hard to wrap your head around, but it's just a thought experiment and people aren't certain on if it's plausible.

Good idea! It's always good to be skeptical.

I really like your style. You should make this an edible, or better yet crop it down and make it an avatar

Sure, I'll probably do that! I can make it into an editable pretty easily. Not an editable avatar though- I don't think you can crop things in Chibipaint.
