A nice pic and small conversation about art

Postby Silk. » Sat Mar 18, 2017 3:24 pm

So, lately I've been noticing a dropping in likes + feedback, but feedback for me is, and was, rare already. I really don't understand this? I put an effort into my art, I enjoy making my art, I like my art style... just why don't others like my art? I try to make it quality, (though I don't shade it because heck I can't shade for crap) but yet I receive nothing. I used to get an average of 2 or 3 likes (which is good by my standards) but lately I've received around 1 or no likes, and of course, zero feedback. (But I have gotten one piece of feedback, you know who you are.) I really don't understand it. I've also noticed the dropping of feedback for other smaller artists, who like me, don't draw fandom stuff(which we'll talk about in a sec) Yet, the bigger artists get tons of feedback and likes, but the smaller ones get stuck in the dark, with nobody to help them. How are us smaller artists expected to improve? So many people hate on a bit smaller artists for being bad at art, but give them no CONSTRUCTIVE criticism. In order for those smaller artists to improve, they need actual good feedback! And what I'm upset about is all the smaller artists who don't include fandoms or anything are getting no love or appreciation. We work hard too! Now, we move onto fandoms. Artists who constantly include fandoms into their art get lots and lots of praise, but as soon as they drop that fandom to make something else they'll enjoy, people who were their fans leave. I'm really upset that people value fandom art over original character art! Their both (usually) good quality art with a lot of effort put into them, so why is one preferred so much more? Once again, I'm very confused as to why my art has dropped in likes and feedback, and though I'm not forcing you to like my stuff, I am asking for constructive criticism and feedback I can enjoy, I promise you it means more than you believe to me and other artists who get it. I'm also asking for an answer as to why my art has slowly sunk into the shadows of oekaki.

Also I lied this isn't a small conversation

This isn't necessarily true.
I've seen many people who love to look at drawings of original characters, and to say that fans suddenly once a artist stops making fandom art seems a little extreme.
I'm not exactly sure why you aren't getting much feedback, and I'm not really sure how to help. Just keep enjoying your drawings, and try to ask for criticism more. If you really reach out and ask questions, chances are that you'll be able to improve a lot better. However, sitting and patiently waiting for people to help you improve just seems inefficient to me. There are many artist on cs that you could ask, and I'm sure that they would be just fine with answering any questions you might have. ^_^

I guess I was a bit harsh on the fandom part, thanks for helping me notice that, and thanks for the advice : )!
