What is a Dragaroo?


It's quite simple, really. A Dragaroo is
a long-legged, slim-necked reptilian
organism with leathery wings and the
capability to breath small bursts of
flame in the right conditions. To put
it simply, a Dragaroo is subspecies of
firedrake which has adapted to the
arid climate of the Earth's many des-
erts. Although they are temperment-
al when wild-caught, Dragaroos rais-
ed from eggs are quite suited to hu-
man companionship, and make use-
ful aides in many jobs. However, due
to the fact that their back slopes at
a small angle, it is not recommended
to attempt to ride a Dragaroo. Fema-
les are about 5-7 feet tall, while males
are found to be 6-8 feet tall.

Our explorers have recently found a cache of eggs abandoned in the desert. Each took an egg to their home, and raised them to adults. Extensive research was done on these first hatchlings to make sure that they would be safe for the public, and after many years of selective breeding, these reptilian creatures are safe to be around humans. We hope that you would consider caring for one, or many, Dragaroos, as we are sure that there are many more secrets to be discovered about these beasts!

Dragaroos are a naturally occurring species, found hidden in deserts, far away from civilization. They are a bit reclusive when in the wild, and are aggressive when confronted. They can breath a small plume of flame, however it takes them a while to build the chemical reserves up, so a Dragaroo will only use its fire when absolutely necessary. Females are 5-7 feet tall, and males are 6-8 feet tall.

Dragaroos can survive on little nourishment; their diet consists of anything they can catch, usually scorpions or lizards. If they can get their claws on hawk hatchlings, it is a fine treat. Water is usually gathered by consuming a cactus. Yes, Dragaroo are known to eat cacti if a water source is not readily available. They have hard scales around their mouths to protect the skin from the cacti spines.

When a pair breeds, they leave their tribe and head off alone in the desert. They raise the eggs together as a working team. Dragaroos lay 1-3 eggs per breeding. They shift turns keeping the eggs warm and hunting until the eggs hatch. When the eggs hatch, the male leaves and heads back to his tribe. The mother stays with the hatchlings, and once they are able to travel, begins a journey that can take up to three months. The mother and her hatchlings will then travel to the tribe to meet the father there. It is like a trial for the hatchlings; if they survive, they will join the tribe as full-fledged members, and receive their Mark.

Every adult dragon has a Mark. Males have a green Mark pointing upwards, while females have a blue Mark pointing downwards. It is a symbol that they are strong enough to traverse the desert and survive, showing that they are part of a tribe. If a dragaroo is exiled from their tribe for some reason, the arrow on their Mark is rubbed away, leaving just the two colored dots.

archivist, however, is welcome. If you want to

Common: Natural colors, Unnatural colored markings, warm colored eyes, no edits

Uncommon: Large amounts of bright/unnatural colors, green eyes, dark blue eyes, small edits (tail tip, spikes, teeth, horns, small wing tear, mane down neck, etc.)

Rare: Extremely torn wings, White/icey colors, Purple or Light Blue eyes, Large edits (fur, missing limb, extra eyes, two tails, etc.)

Legendary: No wings, two heads, transparent parts, glowing
