Here we have my two OCs, Marie on the left and Betta on the right. Both of them are only half mer(maid).(Hence the title)

Marie, her mother was a human and her father a mer. She lives in a city, but does studies on mythical creatures that live in her realm. Rather than studying their anatomy, or how they live, she focuses on the relations between species and humans, her studies inspired from the relationship of her mother and father. Due to her mer blood, she is over 200 years old.

Betta's mother was a mer, whilst her father was a siren. She has more of an appearance of a mer, but gets her charming voice and looks, as well as her shy but fire-y attitude from her father. For a while, Betta lived the usual siren/mer life - luring in sailors to take their money, and eating fish from the deep ocean trenches where she lived. She became bored of her life long ago, in her early 20's, and sold her soul in return for a way to live on land. She regrets this decision. Like Marie, she is over 200 years old, and due to the deal with selling her soul, she is trapped on land in a bubble.

Betta's mother and Marie's father were siblings, making them cousins.
