I don't know if I am much help, but my advice is draw some kind of vertical zigzag and each triangle-like shape is a little large, so the zigzag is not to big. Also don't make the zigzag perfectly straight. If that's hard to understand (which it is ) basically try drawing a smaller version cheek fur within the cheek fur. Hope I make sense!
