First time you met her:
Serris sighed as she closed up her office, blond hair loosened from the braid she had done up that morning, sunlight reaching its final hands across her from the open barn doors. But she turned her head, curious and concerned, when she heard a truck rumbling up the gravel and dirt roadway, as well as a high pitched squeal of fright, nervous snorting coming from the aging horse in his stall across from her office room. "It's alright, Guy. You just keep eating." Serris assured the horse, tanned fingers scritching against the star on his forehead before she walked outside the barn.

She was surprised to see a neighbor exiting his truck, looking upset and angry as he approached, but also desperate for help. "Serris, don't turn me down, here. I know you're probably full up with winter bearing in, but I've got no room at all for her. My daughter's friend just left her in one of our fields and left. I wouldn't ask unless I had no one else, but please help me out here. I don't have the upkeep for another mouth, not with Admiral sick." The man pleaded with her before she even opened her mouth, Serris watching him, dazed.

"Uh.. Yeah, Tom, I can help out. A couple of borders took their horses with them when they moved last week, I've got plenty of room. But.. am I walking into anything dumb here, Tom? I gotta make sure she isn't gonna spread anything through my guys, here." Serris explained, sympathetic to the older rancher but knowing she needed to be careful.

"Doc checked her out yesterday, that's when I started looking for someone to take her. Said she's perfect, if a little on the lean side, but a good schedule can fatten her up. Got the paperwork in the truck for proof." He said, relief flooding his face and body as he slumped downward and then moved quickly back into the truck and handed her some papers.

It was after a quick read that they unlocked the trailer, and Serris looked in, face lighting with surprise at the soft coated mare. Tom untied her and backed her out, Serris seeing what he meant about looking on the thinner side, but when she took the lead from him, guiding her away from the truck and circling the mare briefly, Serris smiled when the mare nosed her right pocket curiously, sniffing heavily at her. Producing the forgotten apple treat, the woman smiled as she fed the mare; she was gentle as she took the treat, one large eye watching her peacefully as she munched. "She's a pretty thing. Give me a call if your daughter's friend decides she wants to take her back. I'll be happy to talk to let her know how much I charge for board, feed and the like."

"You're a lifesaver, Serris. Really. Madison might be over to check on her for a while, she really liked the gal but we just don't have the room or money."

"No problem, Tom, really. She's always welcome down here, you know that. Drive safe, tell Lizzie I said hey." Serris said as Tom moved toward his truck, shaking her hand once before hopping in and then driving back down the path. Turning to the mare, Serris smiled. "Well, let's go get you settled in with some dinner, then."

Discipline: Dressage
First time you met her: I was at a stable looking for my next Dressage horse sadly my partner of 12 years passed away so there I was just wandering around looking at all the different horses There where many beautiful dressage horses but none really caught my eye in till I came to one of the last stalls in the very back corner stood a mare her coat was rather plain looking but what really caught my attention where her eyes they where a beautiful jet black so dark that you could not see the irises. She stood watching me quietly from her corner she did not seem spooky or anything and looked to be in good health. So I asked a stable hand if they could bring her out for me and put her through her gaits I wanted to see what this little mare could do. Once she got into the round pen she took off kicking and bucking squealing happily. Once she calmed down the stable hand saddled her up and handed me a helmet as soon as I got on her I knew that this was the mare for me I could feel her talent and ambition. She wanted to please me but as the same time she wanted to get her own way but once we started going she responded to my touch beautifully. Once I dismounted I looked at the stable hand and said I will I will take her if you would untack her and get her loaded in my trailer with all of her stuff. I will write your boss a check for her.

First time you met her: I'd finally saved up enough for a horse. I had found a nice place to board and a stable job, now all I needed was a horse. This was my second stop, and I still had two more stables to visit, so I wasn't too urgent about finding a companion at this particular stable. I made my way through their 3 barns. I saw many gorgeous horses, but none whom I felt a connection with. I passed a stall that had quite a few people clustered around the door, but not wanting to get attached to a horse that someone was about to buy, I bypassed looking in to see what everyone was so curious about. I'd reached the end and was on my way back to my car when I heard a girl's voice, "Ew! Look at her eyes! They're so.. black. She's scary." The girl obviously did not like this thing that she was referring to. I heard her father's voice interject, "Ally. Listen here. I know she may look scary but we payed a pretty penny to hold this horse for you. Her conformation's great, she's a trophy winner at cross-country, she's exactly what you wanted!" "I know," The girl whined, "But she's so plain, and her eyes are so scary. You know I wanted an appaloosa with blue eyes, daddy, no one else at my barn has an appaloosa and I want to be the first!" By now I was interested to see how scary this horse really was. I waited until the girl and her father had left before I walked over to her stall. The mare was utterly gorgeous. Her coat shone, and her eyes looked like onyxes, how could that spoiled girl call her ugly? Or plain? I grabbed a peppermint from my pocket and reached my hand out to offer it to her. She sniffed my hand softly before gingerly taking the candy. I petted her neck and marveled at how soft she was, at this point I knew I had to have her. I found my way to the office, where the woman was just getting ready to close up. "Hi, I'm sorry, I know you're trying to leave but I came here looking for a horse and that sorrel mare you have is gorgeous. I have to have her." The woman was slightly stunned, "You don't mean the mare with the black eyes, do you?" This worried me, was she already sold? "Yes! That's the one." At this the woman's expression changed to one of joy, "Well that's just wonderful! I thought that poor thing would never find a home. So many are scared off by her eyes, but she's really gentle and sweet."
It took two weeks for the paper work to go through, but once it did I wasted no time going to pick her up. I'd been mulling names over in my head, and I had finally decided on one, Enid. It fit her perfectly, for it meant soul, or life, which I could tell she had a lot of.
