I know how you feel. My really close friend is currently depressed, and it is very hard to see her go through what I went through (and still am)
I don't know if you have the same problem as I do. Because both of us have clinical depression at the moment, it is hard to not commiserate and make things worse. Just try and not bring up the subject, and be there for your friend. Knowing that someone is there with you and supports you really makes people feel better.
Also, try and get your friend to eat and sleep (at least five hours.). My friend doesn't eat three meals a day, and sometimes goes days without eating. As keen said, usually depression is caused by a hormonal imbalance. If your friend doesn't want to eat, just eat their favorite food in front if them (that usually works for me lol)
I'm sorry. I am bad at giving advice. Keen said things a lot better than I did.
I've moved to Smilus!!
