This gene is present in all mules. It causes their noses and face area to lighten much like pangare. In very rare cases this gene misfires and the mule will have a black or dark brown nose.
If the genotype is Pp, the dilute will lighten only the nose and around the eye.
if it is PP, as shown above, a line will conect them across the forehead.
NOTE:
If the horse already has Pangare or a dilute (seal bay) causing the lightening of the nose, this gene will show as PP even if it is only Pp
