It's a very interesting thing, the world is. It's mysterious to see all of the interworkings of the world,
the backstage lighting that gives the show that extra bit of shine. While you may not know or see it,
everything has its own time and place and of course, a color dictating its appearance to the world. Be
it no difference if it's black, white, grey, dark grey, light grey, or otherwise.
In this world everything is plain that way. The sky is grey, the earth is black, the sun is a pure shade
of crystal white. Scientists have a theory that's there's... more than that, something else, some-
thing more.. imaginative than the colors here. The general populace thinks they're off their heads,
but some have tried to prove such things correct. No one has succeeded.
I myself am a nice mixture of black, white, and grey, all fading into each other. This is something that isn't very common here, something outside of the norm and unusual. I like it, it makes me who I am, who I want to be. My name is Kiran, a name meaning "ray of light", something I've always held close to my heart, right under my ribs and weaved in between my nerves.
It was a moderately normal day for me, I was walking home from the fruit stand I helped out with from time to time, as long as it was within season. I was but a normal pedestrian, towering over most people and other creatures that happened to be there. The walk signal hit that beautiful shade of crystal white, just like the sun, except less fierce. I walked forward with the people of my small but glorious city.
The townsfolk were quite interesting people, sometimes blurry streaks of white and grey but other times high definition graphics of shades of grey I had never once seen before. It's a really interesting thing, how things so simple can range so widely, even on an enormous number of people.
The organisms around me stopped walking, and I had to hit the breaks so I didn't run into the guy in front of me. In the blink of an eye, they were all gone. The dozen people around me had suddenly disappeared. The streets barren, with not a single crow, squirrel, or person in sight. I blinked again, slowly, and there was no street. "What in the world.."
I breathed in, a cold rush of air filling my lungs. The air grew frigid the longer I stared, the air condensing and swirling in smoky motions. There was so little sound in the air that suddenly the space became so noisy that I tucked my head near my elbow, the silence taking over.
Another blink of the eye and the landscape changed, morphed right in front of my eyes. A single flower rose from the now dark ground, the bud closed tightly, pointing into the air. Carefully I stepped forward, taking irregularly small steps with my long strides. The bud flinched slightly in a wind I could not tell where it had come from, or how it had happened.
The bud opened, twisting out in a perfect circular motion, twisting out to reveal a sight I can say was the first I had ever seen. It was a pigment of pure delight, something... Something dramatic, elegant even. Something of anger and hatred but of gentle and mysterious beauty that lead me to reaching out with my paw, caressing the petals with gentle ease.
Something I believe to this very day was a new color, something bold and beautiful in such a monochromatic and bland world, daring to catch your eye. Daring you to believe that there is something out there for you, the color red, scarlet, crimson, rust, the very color coursing through your veins at this very moment.
