I guess if you wanted to fit her into the story, it would depend on her personality.
For instance, if she had a very girly, timid personality, your group/person might meet this kitty cat while she was in the city, maybe help her with a problem, and she would follow you there on. That's how you traditionally get friends in Skyrim.
However, if she were a fiery lion, the group/person you want them to interact with might help them in a fight, saving her from death. Or, maybe, she might challenge your character to a fight or contest of sorts, and you would decide in the end who won. If Kinora won, you would probably have to do another task to make her a follower. If your character won, she would respect you, and maybe want to learn under your person. That would make for some funny scenes, I bet.
Concerning her weapons, this, too, might depend on personality, but it would lean towards interest. For instance, does she like long range, close range, heavy, medium, or light?
Wow I feel like I just wrote a tutorial for something. Oh well.
