My first fully lineless drawing! No lines used at all during the making of this kind of depressing picture. All of this was done using a mouse, just in case you were wondering. I don't own a tablet yet, but I am saving up for one.
Ok, so the reason it's so sad is because I needed to vent a little, but also really wanted to try my hand at drawing lineless one more time to see if I could do it. (Needless to say I figured that one out fairly fast.) At least a third of the time spent on this artwork was sketching it out. The other two-thirds mostly involved messing with the shadows and trying to figure out how to draw scales in a way that didn't ruin the somewhat more realistic effect I was going for.
While there are some anatomical errors that I didn't notice until I was almost done (The back legs are too small and her head is too big, for starters), I am quiet proud of this piece. It really put my skills to the test in a whole new way. It was hard at first since I couldn't rely on my any lines to help rein in my wobbly shading and coloring, but I figured out pretty quick how to use the Lock Alpha to keep my colors from going everywhere off the main body.
