My part for ❣D o l l❣'s OC map. The closest cat is Larksong, a member of the made-up VineClan from a 1-1 rp with my younger sister, .Bismuth., and the cats behind her are, from left to right; Briarstar, former leader of the clan; Brindlefire, sister of the last cat; Thornstar, leader after Briar. The three other's are family to Lark, and are all a part of StarClan.
I'll explain a bit of the story more, in depth (long post ahead, beware). My sister p much came up with all of the ideas for the present of the roleplay, while my focus drifted off to the backstory.
Larksong is a senior warrior approaching the elder stage at this point. This is at the the ceremony of the third leader she has traveled with to the Moonpool. Lark and Briar were best friends as apprentices, which developed into love as they aged (because gay cats, it just happened, the characters wrote themselves). Briar quickly climbed the ranks, gaining popularity among her clan, with Lark just a step behind her, until she achieved the rank of deputy. It was around this time that Thornkit and Brindlekit, having been orphaned at around a moon old, showed up. Briar and Lark stepped in and adopted the kits, having wanted some but being unable to do so. A close friend, Mousefur, who recently lost her own kits, agreed to nurse the orphans, while Larksong and Briarstep raised them. A few moons later, the old leader lost his last life, and Briarstep became Briarstar, accompanied to her ceremony by none other that Larksong. However, tragedy struck soon after. Briarstar and Brindlekit both fell ill to a terrible disease, with the small kit succumbing quickly. The sickness continued to eat away at Briarstar's strength, persisting through out each death and new life, but she continued to lead the clan and serve it as best she could. The illness, once caught, was not contagious, but had no known cure. It's rare, but nearly always fatal when it appears. In the stories that elders tell the younger cats, it's described as a cure from the Dark Forest, jealous cats looking for power making deals with those trapped in the dark. Lark watched as Briarstar's energy drained away, but was unable to help. Meanwhile, over the moons, young Thornkit grew into a strong and respected warrior, requesting that his name be Thornbristle (bristle sounding like brindle, in memory of his sister). One day, Dewpelt, Briarstar's trusted deputy and Mousefur's mate, was killed while fighting off a badger that threatened the clan, and Briar, sensing that she neared the end of her last life, appointed Thornbristle as the new deputy. She knew that her adopted son would be strong enough to protect the clan, and lead it through. Over the next moon, Briarstar's last life waned away, until the illness finally won. Larksong was by her side the entire time. Lark didn't get any time to grieve, instead helping her son achieve his nine lives. Thorn kept her moving, her mind focused, not allowing her to dwell on grief. When the cats reached the Moonpool and StarClan, the family was reunited. Sickly Brindlekit was now free from her limitations, and had been named Brindlefire, as a warrior. Briarstar no longer suffered from the sickness that plagued her through her short time as a leader. Larksong and the newly named Thornstar returned to camp, hearts feeling a bit lighter knowing that their kin would no longer suffer the illness.
Cut to the actual roleplay, Lark is nearing the end of her days as a warrior, she is respected as a senior warrior, and viewed as kin by her clan. Thornstar has had a long leadership, and has managed to keep his cats well and thriving. He is on his last life, however, the others used up in defence of his clan, when a familiar illness strikes. Larksong watches helplessly as the leader grows sicker and sicker, herbs having no effect. But this time, StarClan sends a message, about a cure that grows far from the territory. The medicine cat and her apprentice, Daisypaw, are sent off on this mission. Lark is furious at StarClan, where was this cure when she watched her daughter and mate both die? The she-cat goes on this journey with the med cats, dragging the deputy Rosemary with her, determined to save her son, and knowing that the medicine cats will need protection, especially young Daisy. Then a lot of stuff happens, Lark almost dies protecting Daisypaw from her less than stable mentor, they end up finding the cure, but not in time to save Thornstar, who dies with his clan around him, Larksong helps the new leader journey to the moonpool where her family comforts and reassures her, then she retires to the elder's den, where her old friend Mousefur resides, eventually more stuff happens, but i've been writing for at least half an hour and it's 10 pm here and wow ok soooooo yeah there's some long-winded explaining for all of you yay also these characters are just i like them too much ok i should go now my fingers are crampimg and im p sure ive spent more time writing then drawing at this point ok enjoy and stuff
