Username: Bull Name: Age: 6 Word Personality: "That seemed cooler in my head."
In Depth Personality: Memphis is the type of bull to come up with unbelievable stunts and then attempt to perform them, despite cautious warnings from others. Often times, his poorly planned tricks are total busts, that either lead to him getting injured, or the entire idea simply failing altogether. He's a risk-taker, but a poor one, who always wants to come off as "the cool guy" but tends to be "that bull who's always doing something stupid." Most would refer to him being your typical dorky character, constantly trying to fit in with the popular kids but always managing to make a fool of himself. It's no big deal for Memphis, however, he's a very good sport at it and has learned to laugh at himself, and brush off his failures with a smile. He's a spirited young thing who won't let anyone or anything get him down. That being said, while he's typically a friendly and outgoing little thing, he's got a short temper, and a low tolerance for anyone who may pose a threat to his herd. Making fun of him is one thing, but making fun of his ladies? Bah, he will have none of it. He'll go from being a playful calf to a raging bull in seconds if anyone dares hurt the feelings of those he loves; he's a wee bit overprotective, although most of the cows living at The Milkshake Shack can take care of themselves.
History: So you're probably wondering, where do you find such a vibrant young bull? Well, it certainly wasn't easy! You see, The Milkshake Shack is located in the western region of the United States, in an area outside of the Redwood Forest. If you happen to know the area, you'd understand that it's a beautiful, lush area, perfect for farming and raising cattle. Despite how lovely and perfect it is, it takes quite a bit to reach the area, and shipping animals is a whole 'nother story!
Memphis had been born on a Buttermilk breeding farm, many many miles away from The Milkshake Shack. He'd been a bit small at birth, and was kept on close watch for the first few weeks of life. As a calf, he was a clumsy young thing, finding it difficult to grow into his long, spindly legs. He would often trip over himself in excitement, or misplace his foot and be sent plummeting to the ground. Despite his clumsiness, he was determined to stay upright. His first few months of life were pretty simple- stay with mom and the rest of the herd, eat, sleep, and stay out of trouble. Of course, that last one was a bit rough for him, as trouble always seemed to be calling his name! Whenever his mom wasn't looking, or happened to be deeply into her nap, he'd sneak off and try to see just what was outside of their pasture. The fence was tall, but the gaps between each board were just enough apart that he could squeeze through, if he really tried. And so, he did. He escaped with little effort, only struggling when his rump seemed to become caught between the boards. His struggle left him with a few minor scrapes, but nothing he couldn't handle. But alas, he was free from the watchful eye of his mother, and thus, free to do as he pleased. So he explored. He continued to explore, until he found himself at the main house on the property. Nobody appeared to be home, meaning the farmers were probably out tending to the other animals, and giving Memphis the opportunity to see just what the human's home was like.
Well, he'd hoped. No one told Memphis that the humans had a few sheepdogs up at the house, and when the ill-observant calf accidentally stepped on one of them, he set the whole pack off. Now they had no intentions of hurting him, but he didn't know that, and bolted immediately. The dogs, of course, instinctively tried to round up the animal and herd it, which led to Memphis crying out and mooing desperately for anyone to rescue him from the loud, scary animals. It didn't take long before a farm hand noticed, and ended up calling off the dogs and having to round up the scared little calf himself. After his "death-defying" experience, Memphis vowed to never do something so stupid again, especially after the lecture he'd received from his mother. But of course, trouble always seemed to call his name.
Memphis's life was pretty normal for the next couple of years. He was weaned off of his mother, and was going to be used for studding, due to his unique coloration, and overall desirable appearance. Life was, well, boring. He lived in a small paddock with several other males, who wanted nothing to do with him, and he was never requested for stud, mostly due to the high fees set for him. So there he was, back to eating and sleeping all the time, and occasionally being brought out for exercise. Lame. As the days went on, Memphis began reminiscing life as a calf, and reliving the moment of being chased by those crazy sheepdogs. It had been so scary at the time, but looking back on it, gave the bull an adrenaline rush, something he recalled mainly experiencing during the actual chase. The more he thought about that incredible feeling, the more he wanted to relish in it, relive that thrill. And so, Memphis decided he needed to get out and rile up those dogs again. Sadly for him, his legs were no longer as long and spindly, and he was no longer small enough to fit through the fence. He actually ended up getting his horse through, before becoming stuck in-between the planks. It took the farmers over an hour of him crying to notice, and another hour to actually free him. Of course, they had to remove the planks, and then repair the fence, not to mention Memphis never did get that rush he'd been looking for.
After this little mishap, it was decided that Memphis wasn't really worth the time and effort to look after, plus he seemed so miserable being cooped up all the time. So he was put up for sale, and was eventually sold to a purple-haired girl who went by the name "grapejuice," and owned a small dairy farm on the west coast. She'd seen the bull go up for sale on the main Buttermilk site, and had instantly fallen in love with him. It took her nearly three days to drive out the trailer to pick up Memphis, but upon seeing him in person, deemed him to be "totally worth it." He only had a few moments to say goodbye to his home, before he was loaded up into the trailer, and sent on his way. The drive was awful, simply terrible. The entire ride home was bumpy and uncomfortable, and every so often, Memphis would moo loudly, or slam his hoof into the side of the metal trailer, and demand the ride be stopped. Of course, this made for a lot of unnecessary stops, including some where the bull would try and stretch his legs by wandering off if the girl wasn't holding onto his halter tight enough.
All in all, it took four days to drive home, extra hours had been accumulated from all of the various stops. Upon arrival, Memphis quickly realized that this home was much more spacious than his previous one, and there were nowhere near as many cows on this little dairy farm. Actually, there were only six, and all of them were female! Never had he felt more nervous in his life, especially considering he was hundreds of miles away from his birth home, and had no familiar faces to help him cope. Upon seeing the cozy little herd, however, the bull found his confidence, and was quick to try and impress his new lady-friends. I did say try...
Herd Relations: Yazhi - The first cow to inhabit The Milkshake Shack, and also one of the sweetest, Yahzi and Memphis get along extremely well. They have a close relationship, much like brother and sister, as the two can often be found snuggled up to one another and discussing their day, their feelings, or whatever might be on their mind. Both can tap into one another's emotions, and find it easy to vent to one another, or simply be a shoulder to cry on whenever it is needed. Considering she's probably the most sensitive cow, he often feels the need to watch over her and occasionally, be the overbearing big brother.
Jubilee - Next up we have the herd's faithful leader, the slightly reserved Jubilee. She's the eyes and ears of The Milkshake Shack, and is always silently keeping an eye on her beloved herd mates from the sidelines. Unlike Memphis, Jubilee remains on the quiet side, and she often reminds him of a mother, from the way she constantly advises him not to perform his stunts, and gives him that "I told you so" look once it's done and failed. She doesn't encourage his behavior, but often, lets him learn on his own -- something which clearly isn't working as well as she'd hoped. Despite the two being polar opposites, Memphis adores Jubilee, and hopes to one day get to know her better, should she ever choose to actually speak with him. After all, he does tend to be a little too loud and eccentric for her liking.
Sequoia - Here we have the down-to-earth nature lover, Sequoia. She's a cheerful girl who admires the beauty of mother nature, and is constantly getting Memphis to stop and smell the roses rather than live in the moment. Being the nature lover she is, she's often out and about, hiking through the hills, or taking a stroll through the forest and listening to the animals chatter and the birds sing. Memphis occasionally accompanies her on these journeys, always hoping for a little more excitement than what they actually get. He thinks it'd be "rad" to see a bear, whereas Sequoia wants to keep her distance and simply admire the animals in their natural habitat. While they get along well enough, they're not very close, as they both have very different outlooks on life. One likes to live in the fast lane, while the other wants to take the scenic route and simply enjoy the ride.
Naomi - Naomi is what Memphis likes to call a "nerd." She's intelligent, very intelligent, and could tell you everything there is to know about anything. She'll ramble on and on about useless information for hours, something which Memphis often ends up tuning out once he gets bored. Anytime Memphis is attempting to perform some stunt, say, jumping through a ring of fire (a hula-hoop a few inches off the ground which he wants to light on fire but can't), Naomi is right by his side, making all of the calculations and speculations on how to make the trick a success. But again, he tends to tune her out or get lost in her lecture, and often ends up ignoring her, thus failing his trick. She loves his passion for thrills and adventures and so desperately wants to help him out, but he doesn't care much for her advice, and wants to do things on his own. Due to their opposing feelings, the two are acquaintances at best, and don't really spend much time together.
Penelope - Is he allowed to have a crush on one of his herd mates? Because if he can, this girl is definitely it. Penelope is a wild child, who loves to be loud and have fun. A bit of a prankster, this little cow is often hiding around corners, ready to jump out and spook her next unsuspecting victim. He and Penelope get along very well, as she often encourages Memphis's outrageous acts and is always rooting him on. She's a bit of an instigator, really, but she's the reason he never gives up. She gives him hope and courage, even if he finds himself a little frustrated after a failed attempt. Often times, the two can be seen plotting their next big prank together, or performing silly tasks in a childish game of "truth or dare."
Clarabell - Lastly, we have the peace-keeper of the herd, Clarabell. Clara is a very friendly, charming cow who can befriend just about anyone and anything. She's a people-pleaser, who does her best to maintain strong relationships with all of her herd members. Memphis likes Clara and enjoys her company, and truthfully is very envious of her. He tries so hard to be seen as "popular" or as "the cool guy," and yet Clara is just naturally well-liked by everyone.
