May isn't good at shifting her form like other changelings because she was never taught how. Not growing up around her own kind had it's downsides. She can only take one other form, and there are things she hasn't mastered yet such as horn shape, hair, and her markings.
As for the talent, she doesn't know what hers is or how she got the mark in the first place, so it is meaningless for May right now. She doesn't know how to get rid of it, either, but she figures it makes her blend in, so she just ignores it.
