The Moon Duck

These are an extinct species of magical chickens that lay a clutch of eggs the color of their feathers once a year on the March equinox. In the past, a rabbit named Peter had a taste for magical-chicken-egg omelette and as such would sneak into their nests and steals their eggs. He would then hides them in various places, like a squirrel, so that none may find them and he can then enjoy snaking on them throughout the year. One day (on the March equinox) a human stumbled upon these eggs. Enraptured by their beauty he called his children to look for more and his children told their friends to help look and so on and so forth. Today we call this day Easter, and although the Moon Ducks have long gone extinct, we still honor the day by spreading colorful eggs around and having our children hunt them down in a friendly competition.
