Welcome to the Pearl Gryff Nursery!
This is where two Gryffs can actually have offspring. Gryffs do not raise their young;
instead, they lay the eggs in a nest underwater and the offspring hatch completely able
to breathe underwater, swim well, and use their wings as rudders. The water triggers
their growth. Because of this, your offspring Gryffs could be any of the three sub-types.
There can be one to four eggs per batch. You pay the artist for how many eggs you
would like. When you send a payment to the artist, they must put up a cover for your
breeding as soon as possible. The actual offspring can take a while to make after that,
but will be finished. When the artist is finished, the eggs will "hatch", and then you
can do one of three things:
⇒ adopt them out: you can adopt any number of the offspring you don't want
out to other people. you can even choose what type of competition, and you may
help judge. offspring adopted out cannot be sold for auction.
⇒ gift them: you can gift them to other users if they have enough slots to do
so. gifted offspring can later be adopted out if the receiver doesn't want them.
⇒ adopt them yourself: you can keep the offspring as well, but only if you
have enough slots to do so. these can later be adopted out if you choose not to
keep them forever.
When they are adopted, the owner must wait a week before their Gryff can be put onto
main lines. The offspring must be put onto main lines sometime; the nursery lineart is
not meant for reference images. If the artist feels like it, while the offspring has no
owner, it can be moved to the main lines. If it gets an owner, they must wait the period.

main thread wrote:We introduce you to a newly-discovered species - Pearl Gryffs. They are a strange, varying
species that has growth triggered by something even stranger - regular water. Living for
about 15 to 20 years, this domestic species has three subtypes, Flight, Land and Aquatic.
These three subtypes all share the same species and DNA, but are incredibly different; this
is because they each develop for much longer periods of time. It's a long explanation, but
basically, the longer in water they stay, the more they grow. Flight Gryffs take the least
amount of time to fully develop, while Aquatic Gryffs take much longer. This difference
isn't genetic -- actually, it is just according to when the Gryff wants to leave the water.
Pearl Gryffs are named for their behavior. No matter their type, they have a strange habit.
When they mature, about 2 years into their lifespan, they will scour riverbottoms for a
rock, a beautiful stone that catches their eye. These are "pearls" in their eyes. They
protect these stones for the rest of their life and are incredibly protective over them.
Flight Gryffs will carry them with prehensile tails during flight, and Aquatics may even
wrap them in seaweed pouches or put them in necklaces to protect them and keep
them close.
