I padded through the woods. Mother told me not to, that it was dangerous, and I ought to stay inside. I didn't listen. The dark woods beckoned to me like a vampire to blood.
I slid my thick sweater over my pajamas, and grabbed my stuffed cat. The wind blew through the cracks in the door as it swang shut. I shivered as a light snow began to fall.
The breeze whispered through my hair as I stepped off our property, and into the deep darkness. My stuffed cat's eyes seemed to glow a message, "Turn Back," but I did not heed the warning.
I continued forward. I couldn't see my house anymore, it was swallowed by the trees. Still, I padded on. Suddenly, a branch snapped behind me.
I whipped around. Nothing stirred in the night.
Turning back, I peered, trying to pierce the white blizzard that had started. A voice whispered in the night, sending more chills up my spine than the cold ever could.
"Hey.... Oh."
"....Why?"
