How did they get those feathers?
chosovi has her feathers due to her tribe. she was born into a hopi native American indian tribe; her mother and father before her were both horses of the tribe. her mother belonged to the shaman, and her father belonged to the chief. so, when she was born, it only made sense that she would be given to the human offspring of those two; the chief's daughter, the future shaman. however, in her tribe, a horse only gets its feathers when it proves its worth; she was a yearling when she did such, which was shocking and unheard of. her owner, her little princess, took her to the waterfall on the edge of the territory. chosovi was laying in the grass next to the mouth of the fall, as the little girl waded around in the shallows, splashing and having fun. however, she got caught in the current from the waterfall and was pulled under. she was too young and weak to fight it, try as she might. chosovi watched and refused to stand by. she was still a filly herself, but she wasn't about to let her girl, her best friend, die. so she dove in. was almost taken down herself, not knowing how to swim, but she managed to fight the current. the little girl clung to her mane, and chosovi pulled her from the water. by this time, a group of the tribes hunters and gatherers who had been nearby had heard the commotion and arrived just in time to see the filly save the girl's life. she was taken back to the camp as a hero, and given her feathers.
