why;; "This is weird, right? I'm half wolf but I love cats. There's just something about them, that makes me love them! I don't like big cats though. Like lions, tigers, and bears...wait...bears aren't cats...*clears throat* Anyways, I love cats because their cunning and most people think they hate and are nothing but jerks, but they can have their moments when they are cuddly and loving, but I mainly love how soft their fur is and their paws... Don't get me started on their paws!"

He's always had a soft spot for them, since a human who once lived in his forest, also use to adore them. On many occasions did both Fenrir and the human help the little critters through the winter, which helped the Ryuami grow closer to both man and squirrel. Of course it was only a matter of time before the man grew old and passed away, and poor Fenrir had left it too long to share his soul with the man. While racked with grief at his stupidity, the squirrels comforted him, as now he does the same for them. While their numbers are declining on the island of Britain, he does his best to keep the grey squirrels, who are overcompeting the red, out of his forest as the decades go by.
So to make a short story shorter; he loves red squirrels due to being both their friend and protector.[
