[left]it was the night before Christmas, the snow glistened on the ground. April was writing a note to give to Santa. its words were, "I want a pony or a horse." Her mother came in and sighed. "April, there will be no horse this year, its to much of a commitment, you have to feed it and give it exercise, who knows what im missing, but we just cant do it." her mother explained. "you forgot grooming it," April muttered. her mother walked out of her room, shaking her head. April lay down and watched out the window, waiting for her dads car to pull up. it was getting late, and Aprils' eyes finally gave up. she dreamed of a beautiful white pony, prancing through the snow.
Her father was finishing his work and knew that April was desperately in love with horses, but were would he find one that was only a couple hundred dollars? he shook his head and got into his car. he slowly drove home, when on the side of the road, a small field caught his eye. he pulled his car over and got out. he walked over and looked at the field. the fence that cept it enclosed was moldy and rotten. " this is a nice lot of land, I don't see anyone taking care of it!" Aprils father exclaimed. all of the sudden, a horse trotted out from behind an old shed in the field. it was so thin and un healthy, Aprils dad had to look away... but the animal lover he was, he couldn't let it stay there. he kicked one of the fences and it slit in half. I slowly walked across the field to the horse, making sure not to spook it. the field wasn't even grass, all it was was mud and litter, the horse looked up at him, its eyes sad. "Don't worry, im going to get you out of here!" Aprils dad exclaimed. he triend to get the horse to move torwards him, but it wouldn't budge, it was in a lot of pain and was scared. Aprils dad kept trying but know luck. he shook his head and sighed. "if only I had rope even a string would help! he reached in his pocket, but all he pulled out was a red ribbon with pocadots. he shook his head and smiled. "April!" he chuckled. he took the ribbon and walked over to the horse. he gently tied it onto the tail. "let this be hope," he whispered. the horse slowly stood up, the magic was working. "please, just walk for a small bit!" the horse shook its head and snickered, it slowly started to walk, Aprils dad laughed. he got the horse out, can the horse walk one mile to the house? lets try, Aprils dad thought, and they started walking. when they got to the house, it was still ark. he slowly walked the horse around to the backyard. "at the grass, I don't care if my wife gets mad, you need to eat!" Aprils dad whispered. the horse gladly started to eat. Aprils dad went inside and collapsed on the couch, to tired to get up to bed. hen morning cam, April shot down the stairs, and looked in her house for a pony or a horse. when she realized there wasn't one, she cried. her dad woke up to her crying. "why are you crying?" he asked. "because I didn't get a horse. maybe you should get some fresh air in the back yard, put on your snow clothes first though. April did what she was told then went to a the back yard. he heard her scream with delight. he chuckled. "I think i' going to call you juniper!" April laughed. Aprils dad nodded, she will truly be hope, he thought.
