Its saying that Asriel didn't mean to be evil and didn't wanna be in your characters way and was trying to befriend your character, in the Genocide run of undertale. Your character kills her but Asriel was innocent the whole time. Asriel was a flower that was a monsters sprite thats why it looks as if after flowey was killed Asriel's sprite is released. In the Pacifist run Asriel calls her a "best friend" from your characters kindness in that route. Sorry its a confusing story.

I don't like Flowey because Flowey is the more soul-less side of things, but I feel sorry for Asriel and understand that is' not his fault. I see Asriel and Flowey as being very separate.

Yea thats true, But in the genocide end Asriel as flowey didn't know what he was doing and tried to survive against you. Of course it didn't work. But I feel bad for them both knowing they just didn't understand fully.
