These were the two foxes he first infected.
Dr. E. crooned kind, misleading words to them. He did not want to
scare them off with his serum. He addressed them as "#1" and "#2".
With each gentle pet and kind word, he drew closer, about to strike.
But #1's buddy, #2, saw what he was about to do to him, so he called
out to him with a series of high pitched yelps. #1 then noticed Dr. E's
true nature, but it was too late. But right before he could infect him,
#1 yelped and tried to jump up. Because Dr. E. was so close to him, he
accidentally hit #1 in the wrong place with the serum. Because of this,
#1's symptoms turned out worse than any other creature he injected.
#2 was devastated to see his friend injected. He gave up and let Dr. E
inject him without a fight. He changed, too, but his sad white eyes tell
you he didn't change as much. The two escaped, but Dr. E. didn't care,
because his experiment had gone wrong. Ever since then he kept trapping
more foxes and trying the same thing - but each time he ending in failure,
which meant each time he tried one more, infecting new foxes each time.
