Reaction-2-Shock

Postby ghost; » Wed Sep 29, 2010 12:32 pm

Gently, a Black Thoroughbred Stallion was loaded into a trailer. It was one of his first times going to the races by himself without his brother, Hate-My-Love, since the fire.
Hate had won almost, if not, all his races. Their owners always brought along his younger brother and entered him in the ‘Junior Races’ to get him use to the tracks. But one stormy night at the races, all that changed…..
It was the first time Hate-My-Love had to be out of the races due to a severe facture in his leg. Their owners felt brave and added his bother, Reaction-2-Shock, in to take his place. This race was one of the biggest and the scariest.
Slowly, the jockeys led him in to the starting gate, in went in smoothly, unlike the strange horse a few stalls down. The strange horse kicked and bucked, trying to get out of the gate, until he was whipped on the butt and scared in. The other horse, including React, nickered and laughed at him. Soon a loud buzz went off and the gates opened. The other Stallion that the other horse laughed at darted out of the gates heading to the front.
The voice of the announcer came on from the speakers, “There goes Class Act’s Zeal, to the front.”
‘That must be the strange horse, Zeal.’ React thought to himself as he listened in and ran. He looked up and saw a Grey Mare in front of him.
“Gypsy Meteor behind him,” Said the Announcer over the crackly microphone, “Reaction-2-Shock in third.”
React held his head proud when he heard his name; not listening to the rest of who was in the race. A slight tap on his side made him speed up, he wanted to win, to make his brother proud. Soon enough, he passed Gypsy Meteor, looking up at Zeal.
Zeal’s jockey looked back and saw him gaining on them. Quickly, he kicked Zeal and whipped in on the head to speed him up. React couldn’t tell what was happening until he was the wings come out. As Zeal began to rise in the air, it seemed his wing knocked the jockey off. He rolled to the side of the track not wanting to get kicked.
React watched as the jockey rolled to the side, when he was tapped again, he looked up and saw Zeal. The Black Stallion watched as the Strange Winged-Horse landed and dashed towards the finish line. Once Zeal crossed, there was nothing from the crowd, no announcement, no nothing, it was like they ignored him.
React watched as Zeal trotted around the track, waiting, but getting nothing. After another tap on his side, React hunkered over and sprinted towards the finish line, near Zeal. As soon as he crossed the crowd went wild, screaming and cheering his name.
The announcer came over the intercom, “Recation-2-Shock wins by a landslide. Class Act’s Zeal is disqualified due to no rider at the end of the race. Let’s go to the winners circle.”
React looked at Zeal, waiting to see what happened, he only saw his owners go over to him, but he was tugged to the Winner’s Circle. Suddenly, there was a flash, a neigh, screams, flames and panic. Everyone began to run around, before he knew it he was being loaded into the trailer, without his brother.
He never saw his brother again….
So you see this was the Black Thoroughbred’s first race without his brother.

No one knows what happened to Love-My-Hate today. But some say they see him around the ruins of the track, the same time every year, hoping his family returns.
