Their scarves are sentient, they are what makes up a Lupis' personality and are called Gheists. The more Gheists one has on their scarf the more personality traits they have.

    these scarves are indeed sentient, but very violent. they only "half-respect" their bearers, and anything else will be treated like dirt. the scarves are incredibly vulgar and aggressive. as insensitive they are, the scarves have a "sixth sense" and over time, they develop a bond with their bearers. the stronger the bond, the more powerful both shall become; and the more control the bearer gains over the scarf. if granted enough time, the scarf may offer the powers of mind reading, immortality, or telekinesis. depending on which power is granted, the bearer will gain unique marks. the scarves are the souls of someone who finds the bearer important, or the soul of a deceased witch.

tell me about their scarves;;
Their scarves are living beings, but are more so a type of demon that takes the form of a scarf and wraps itself around K-9 Kleptos, each demon scarf have the title of being a kelpto that always favor a single type of item, stealing them while their host/partner creates a small hoard of these items.

username;; water witch
species name;; Scarfs n' Coons
tell me about their scarves;; The scarves are..well, we aren't entirely sure. It is believed that each Scarf is a bit of an outward interpretation of the Coons' beings; whether you interpret that as their soul or their personality. All look roughly the same when it comes to shape, but all vary in colors and size. Some are bright and vibrant, others are dull and are easily looked over. It all depends on the Coon they represent!
On rare occasions, Scarfs will not exactly "match up" with their host. This often happens when a Coon "disascocciates" or has changed somehow and their Scarf hadn't adapted to the new personality, thoughts, or feelings.

Scarfs, however, are practically attached to their host. When a Coon dies, tho that rarely occurs as they are magic-weilders, their scarf will stay attached until the body decomposes completely. Afterwards, the scarf will remain and turn into a type of shiny stone that many collectors/miners can only dream about.

As for newborns, they are not born with their Scarf. Kits will have a Scarf sewn for them from magic, often having a piece of "rock" from an ancestor imbedded in the fabric, and until they develope themselves a bit their scarf will change from simple dull-monochromous colors to ones that better fit their host.

Scarflings

Postby Pyromaniacal » Fri Sep 18, 2015 11:43 am

    username;; Sno Leopard
    species name;; Scarflings
    tell me about their scarves;;

    Scarfling Subspecies
    .........Each scarfling is considered part of one of the three subspecies β€” mountain, coastal, or desert. Every scarfling must be one of the three subspecies β€” none can be two or all three (for example, if a desert and coastal scarfling breed, the babies would be either desert or coastal, but not both or none). Scarflings don’t necessarily live where their subspecies evolved.

    • Mountain scarflings evolved in cold mountain and tundra climates. They have the thickest, fluffiest fur and are usually natural or cool colored.
    • Coastal scarflings evolved in various forested and coastal areas. They have a medium fur length that is similar to a red fox’s. They are normally brightly or darkly colored.
    • Desert scarflings evolved in dry climates, such as deserts and savannahs. They have the thinnest and sleekest fur due to the heat of their habitat. They are normally warm or pale colors.
    .........Scarfling subspecies is determined mainly by fur texture and not by colors β€” for example, a warm-colored fluffy scarfling would be considered a mountain scarfling and not a desert scarfling.

    Scarfling Scarves
    .........Almost every scarfling has bonded to a snake-like companion known as a scarf that is kept wound around their neck like a, well, scarf. These scarves are sentient and can talk to their scarfling companion (and, if the bond is strong enough, perhaps even through telekinesis) and usually get along fairly well. Scarves originally were only found on the mountain subspecies, as they provided warmth and help with the harsh terrain, but slowly became popular among all the subspecies.

    .........The scarf and scarfling share a symbiotic relationship β€” it’s not master versus minion or pet versus owner. The scarfling feeds and nurtures their scarves and in return, the scarf acts as an advice giver, companion, and friend. A scarfling usually bonds to their scarf at childhood and the scarf stays with them for the rest of their life. However, if a scarf and scarfling are really a bad match, they can separate from each other and look for new bonds.

    .........Scarflings also can have two or more scarves, or none at all, depending on the scarves they bonded with. However, a scarf cannot be shared between two scarflings. Scarflings can survive without their scarves and vice versa, but they prefer to be together as they are much safer and happier.

    .........Scarves won’t necessarily resemble a scarfling’s parents’ scarves, as each bond is unique and has nothing to do with family ties, but they often do as scarves’ appearances change in time to better fit the scarfling they’re attached to.

    Scarfling Feathers
    .........In scarfling culture, feathers are a sign of maturity and independence. Young scarflings normally find them or are given them in their mid teen years. The feathers symbolize a bird’s flight feathers, which, when they have grown in, mean that the bird is completely grown up and ready to start their own life. If a scarfling doesn’t have feathers after a certain period of time, they are usually ridiculed until they find some.

username;; Misconceptions
species name;; Nano-rykins (nano=scarf - rykin=canine)
tell me about their scarves;; More than anything, a Rykin's scarf is a parasite. A Nano cannot live for more than a few weeks by itself, at most. They will often be eaten by other predators without a real means of defense. Because of this, they must attach themselves to a host. It's able to keep itself around the neck of the canine my physically integrating itself into the other animal so they are basically one being with two minds. Over time, the scarf takes over much of the head's requirements, including eating and breathing. The Rykin's head is then only used for seeing and of course thinking. If one dies, then so will the other. The parasite cannot live without its host after attachment and vise-verse. Although it is rare, as scarfs are often hostile towards one-another, a Rykin can have two or more scarfs that has chosen it for its host. The canine's throat closes off, as the scarf is now in charge of that function, so although they would still be able to chew, they can no longer swallow anything. They often use this for storing small objects for safekeeping. Although the scarf starts off as a parasite, the duo end up having a symbiotic relationship with each watching out for the other. Depending on each of their personalities, they may fight or be the best of friends, it's different for every pair. Scarfs vary in shape, size, and color. When a Rykin reproduces to have children, so do their scarfs, giving the pups a Nano of their own.

species name;; StrΓ€ngad Samlare
tell me about their scarves;; Strangad Samlare or Samlare for short is of Sweden origins, Their names translates to String Collectors and with that gives us an idea of who they are. The Collectors them selves are born with out the scarved found on normal adult Samlare's and ass they age will collect string from others around them. Taking bits of thier friends and loved ones scarves along with string they find on their own journey, making a sort of document in which showing once they are fully grown, who they are and where they have been in their life. Thier scarves once fully complete, some how fuse with a bit of the Samlare's soul, creating a bond and becoming a companion. Samlare's are rather social creature and tend to get lonely and even sick with out the company of others. With their scarves around at all times the Samlare will never worry about being alone. If lost a Samlare must keep in a pack and hope that the sport of their pack will help them find it. With out the scarf the Samlare will be nervous, and hyperventilate. The Scarves though are in their own way alive, they like off the host and once separated will lose their livelihood, appearing to be only a scarf. The Scarves when attached to their Samlares will act and behave in only one way, absorbing only one personality trait from the samlare to express themselves. Becuase thise scares are so thin and in a way can not contain an aray of emotions and take on a personality of their own.

        Proxypups, scaves are known as Stoules (soul and stole combined)

      tell me about their scarves;;

        The scarves, known as Stoules, are actually the dominant beings for part of the Proxypup's life. They are not exactly a parasite to the pup, but do have parasitic tendencies. The two are merged around the pup's neck as the pups' develop before birth. They use the pup as a way to camouflage themselves from harm and when the Proxypup is young act as a babysitter to the pup, although as the pups become older, the two form a more mutual relationship with one another and distinct personalities.

        The Stoules use different chemical combinations to control the pup, especially in their youth, and will release small amounts of synthesized gaseous fusions that the Proxypups are extremely responsive to. This better allows the Stoule to overwrite the pup's moods and actions and allow Proxypups to be controlled. This does not hurt their pup, but places them in a trancelike state. The gaseous compounds created are said to have a strong odor to those who are nearby, although the chemicals do not seem to affect other species. Some have noted more floral fragrances, while others claim they smelled like week old garbage. In actuality, each Proxypup has its own particular scent due to the slightly different chemical compositions the Stoules use. This also protects other Proxypups from the affects of the gas from Stoules that are not theirs. This is used less and less as the pups grow older as they become more desensitized to the chemicals used and the effects wear off quicker causing more energy expenditure for the scarf and the pup. Instead, as they age and mature together, the chemicals are used to calm the Proxypup from extreme stress and help reproduce vivid memories from the Proxypup's past.
