act much like anglerfish, luring in prey with their "welcoming" light and will linger around shallower waters during the night
extremely aggressive and competitive. this creature mainly depends on feeling, as their eyesight is rather poor; much like a snake, this creature senses heat and motion.when they swim up to shallower waters, they take this as a time to feed on more filling animals, like sharks. it doesn't have much energy, so when it is is deeper water it uses the "lie and wait" hunting strategy. then, with its energy stored, it makes its way up; it will rest within rocks and then descend at daybreak.

Idea for species;;

Basic Overview
Unlike the angler's carnivorous diet, Spectramal Anglers feed off of different wavelengths. Some feed off X-rays, others radio waves, and on rare occasion, visible light. Only those that can feed off of visible light will consume their's and other's orb lights. This doesn't hurt the creatures at all, it is a commensalism-like relationship.

Spectramal Anglers live mostly in the water and even a bit on land, making them amphibious. A lot of the time they are found in shallow waters or out in the deep. Their orbs are use almost like echolocation, the light bounces off an object and is reflected back into their eyes. This is because of their poor eyesight, and is used mostly to spot potential predators. Their gills are used as both to breath air and get oxygen from the water. They have 8 gills, 4 on each side, 2 of which are to breath on land and the other 2 are used in the water. When a Spectramal Angler is on land the gills that are used underwater close up, vice versa if the Angler in in the water.

As far as coloring goes, most Angler Dragons tend to be on the natural colored spectrum. This is to help them blend in with their environments, which consist mostly of sand, rocks, and dirt. However, if a Angler Dragon is native to a coral reef (aka- the majority of their ancestors came from there) they may be brightly colored with really drastic patters. Having bright and unnatural patters

Their sharp teeth and claws are not for eating/getting food, in fact they can hardly open their mouths at all. These claws and teeth are used purely in self defense, and are there for no other reason. It is believed that Spectramal Anglers's once did use their claws and teeth to get food, however these just became unusable after a major food shortage. Instead of going extinct, somewhere around 70 million years ago they adapted to "eating" viable light. This gene to eat light was slightly knocked out of the gene pool when different forms of wavelengths were introduced to them. They began adapting more to those as they were introduced, and found that these other forms sustained them more.

Rarities
Visible Light Eaters - Extremely Rare
X-ray Eaters - Very Rare
UV Eaters - Rare
Microwave Eaters - Common
Radio Wave Eaters - Common

idea for species;; These creatures dangle a luring light infront of their face in the dark of night in swamps to attract a curious creature close, and then snap their razor sharp jaws around whatever they caught. They primarily live in swamps and have slimy skin like amphibians, and can breathe underwater as well as onland. They do not do well in harsh warm temperatures. They can't live without the humidity. They feed on mostly mammals. I actually like the name Angler Dragons so I'd keep that. They don't breathe fire, though. They breathe a poisonous fume as a defense mechanism, and can spit this at any potential predators in the form of a slime.
Body Size: These creatures are 12 feet long from head to tail. They are 6 feet tall and are actually very lithe on land, and in the water they're graceful. They can swim at speeds of 10-20mph. They run up to 20mph on land, though they can't run very far. They have incredible stamina in the water though. The males let out low sounds comparable to a lion's during mating season to attract females, and they have lifelong mates.

idea for species;; These creatures are about 20 feet long and are commonly found at the bottom of the ocean where the light does not reach. Their bodies have adapted to let off bio luminescent light that is used as a mating call. Unlike the angler fish of which this creature greatly resembles, they do not use their light to lure prey. Instead these beasts attract food through a silent echoing call through the waters, much like a siren (mermaids who would lure sailors to their deaths.)
These creatures are very much Carnivores, and consume food as often as they can, seeing as fish are scarce at the bottom of the sea. Commonly aggressive and quick to anger over territory and mating.
Not uncommon for them to come to the surface of the water at night to feed on the abundance of fish.
Eyesight is very keen and concise despite living in utter darkness. They are much like felines on land who have night vision to see easily in darker places.
Quick swimmers, reaching about 30MPH under the water but their stamina greatly lacks. Leaving these creatures a small shot to catch prey before they grow tired and unable to keep the chase. They are also excellent at turning and maneuvering around.

name - lumi (nickname) lumine (singular) luminessas (plural)
reproductive opportunities - extremely rare being as they are a solitary species and have a highly unlikely chance of meeting another of their own kind.
world - luminessas live in a plant in which is the complete opposite of earth, located galaxies away. this planet is known as Ulonia, housing very few species due to it's uninhabital atmosphere. here the planet's atmosphere is water, a humid air is entrapped inside, holding at it's very core, a black hole in which is capable of great destruction, yet it seems as though it is currently ineffective. luckily for the planet and it's creatures. luminessas are completely aquatic, living in water that is constantly boiling at extreme temperatures, they wouldn't have a chance at living without such high heat.
diet - they feed on single-celled organisms, being as other life is quite rare to find. if they ever do encounter another, they may attempt and battle if they feel they have an upper hand on their opponent, consuming their remains. it is a delicacy in their view. this of course is a large reason as to why it is so rare for them to reproduce.
habits - they are often found near the outermost part of their habitat, at times close enough to be seen if someone would ever happen and travel so far into space, or might a man made creation capture an image.
their planet is filled with darkness, causing for them to produce their own source of light. it has not been developed in order for them to attract prey much like the angler fish. instead, it is used to help and calm their often tense and wry temperment.

    Details about the species;
The species name is Draggler
Males are about 33 ft long while females are 30 ft, give or take. (Includes tail.. They're be roughly 12-15 ft tall)
There are two types with basically no difference in build, the one that loves the cold and one that loves the heat. This effect where they live (see below)
Different patterns are not uncommon, though plain colors are. These are a more striking species in color and thus those that are only one color aren't found as often but still are seen sometimes. Dragglers can have stripes, spots, dripping markings, skeleton markings, etc.. They aren't that limited when it comes to pattern.
Their eyes are often pupil-less, but it is not uncommon to find one with pupils. Their eye colors can range, they can even have up to four eye colors, one color for each eye. (Although more than one color in an eye is rare.. In this case there could be more than 4 colors)
Babies are from 0-12 months, teens are from 13-24 months and adults are 25+ months.
The males use their vibrant colors to attract mates while the females colors have a more dull appearance. If there are two or more males trying to attract one female they will do a sort of dance to try and be more appealing to her. The spines on their head and tail help with this, being moved up and down while letting off a glow as they dance gracefully around her. This is such a beautiful sight to behold, the swift, controlled movements. The glow makes it even more beautiful at when the dance is done at night, or deep underwater. The dance can be preformed underwater, this tactic is more graceful due to them being more agile and swift underwater.
They can survive for an unlimited amount of time underwater if they need to, as they can get their oxygen from filtering the water around them through their gills.
They have what some would call 'Selective hearing', they can close their ears similar to how camels close their nostrils to protect them from sandstorms.

    How they act towards others of the same species;
Males tend to dislike other males, hissing, roaring and often being tense around them while females can and will live with other females. However males can bond with other males, brothers can often stay together, fathers and sons, etc.. When males are young they don't dislike males but they are shy towards strangers.
However this species dislikes being alone, they often live in groups called packs in which there is often only one male and a few females.
This species mate for life, thus once they found their other half it if not likely they will leave each other. (Its not impossible though as it happens but rarely)

    Babies;

Draggler's can have around 2-3 babies at a time and can breed only three times. If the mates, for some reason divorced and use 1-2 breeding slots they can use the rest with whoever they become mates with, however if they breed 3 times they will not breed again.
Baby Dragglers are called hatchlings.

    Where they live;
On land and in the water, they can survive in either but each one has its own preference between the two.
They can live just about anywhere on the planet, some prefer to live near murky waters while others sea-water or fresh water.
With a preference in temprature, some love to live near volcanos, both above and in the water, while others prefer icy weather either really deep in the ocean or near colder places Both above and in the water.

    Diet..?;
They are an omnivorous species, eating anything from meat to plants/berries. It is hard for them to chew plants and such, thus they would rather eat meat because they swallow it whole.

    What kinds of odd things might you see in the species;
There have been reports of a see-through Draggler, one in which is completely transparent. It is often an argument that it has the ability to change its own color to blend in with its background rather than actually being transparent.. Guess we'll have to find one to find out (Would be extremely rare)
Albino/completely white is also been reported, more often then the transparent but still very rarely. Some say they lost their color due to age, or maybe they were born like that.. there are many beliefs on how and why these came to be, but no one knows for sure except for the Draggler themselves.
Dragglers can have weird mutations from time to time, this is uncommon/rare depending on the mutation. (Mutations can range from horns, longer/different claws, differently styled ears, something different at the end of the tail, etc.. Nothing will be dramatically changed nor will they have hair, have the orb on their head or their spines taken away..)
Accessories! This species has a love for finding treasures and will take anything they find that catches their eye. In fact a Draggler will always have at least 1 unique object/accessory by the time it is a teen.
