#3380: Palomino Sabino/Blanket Brindle W/ Badger

Postby Desmond » Sat Aug 01, 2015 7:33 am

!! - This tolter is not spooptastic, sorry! - !! The badger face just scoops up a little with that sabino. cx
It's also going to be my last adopt as a July GA. <3 I've had so much fun, and I've released a lot of tolts that I hope you guys have all loved. Maybe I'll be back soon? Either way, I wanted to end my term with a bright, shiny, brilliant bang, and here it is in all of its golden glory.

Tolter's Name: Protector of Eden
Gender: Galadriel
Halter: black with a flaming sword on it.
Significant Day: The Day Galadriel Met Eden
Galadriel was like any other stallion when it came to Eden, he was rendered speechless by her beauty, but unlike the others, he seemed to have a similar affect on her. He knew she had a mate already but Eden was, well, Eden was Eden. She flirted with everyone and seemed to use her beauty to manipulate everyone, everyone excepts Pepsi, and Galadriel.

Galadriel was being unloaded from his trailer, at his new home when he saw her. She was being led from the training corral back to the pasture. She seemed to shimmer in the sunlight, a quality his own coat seemed to possess, but hers was different, her shimmer was exotic, it was something you wanted but knew you couldn't have. His new owner tried to lead Galadriel in the direction to the stallion's pasture, but his eyes were glued to her, and her forbiddeness, "Just like all the others," laughed his new owner, "Cant seem to take his eyes off of Eden." Eden, Galadriel thought, what a name.

*****

Later that day, while talking to Tumble, one of the first stallions at Ironwood. Tumble was telling Galadriel all of the dos and don'ts here, what trainers expected of you and the attitude you should have on rides and in the corral. That's when the others started to gather at the fence, "What's going on over there?" Galadriel asked Tumble. Tumble huffed a little, as he glanced over at the fence, "It's my daughter Eden, she's at it again, flirting with boys who have no chance." Galadriel perked at her name, Eden, he thought again, definitely forbidden. Galadriel looked at Tumble's frustration, "I'll fix this for you." He smiled and trotted towards the crowd. Slowly but surely he shooed the stallions away, until it was only Galadriel and Eden at the fence. As much as he wanted to tell her how beautiful she was, he couldn't do that to his new friend Tumble. But what Galadriel didn't know was that she too, wanted to tell him how glossy his coat was and how amazing he looked when he ran, the only problem was she was rendered speechless by him. Galadriel looked into her eyes, "Don't worry, I will always be here to protect you." Galadriel trotted back to Tumble, "Don't worry about those stallions anymore, I'll make sure they don't bother her anymore. I will make sure of it."

That day Galadriel met one of his best friends, Tumble, and the only mare that has ever rendered him speechless and protective, Eden. That day changed Galadriel forever. He became one of the most respected stallion at Ironwood, and is always the one mares ask to walk them home.

Image The Resplendent Quetzal // Quetzalcoatl "Quetzal"
Image Agender (bio male; uses they/them pronouns)
Image If at all possible something like this but with the base black and the jewels the same green as their eyes? (original publisher on image) Or maybe with the jewels a dark red, like the quetzal's chest feathers. Surprise me using this, how's that cx

Image
Quetzalcoatl was nearly a year old when they finally met their twin. It was always strange to come across the other gods because they did not look quite right; Quetzalcoatl could see their body, of course, no matter what sort they were, but stretched out behind them was the shadow of something else, something bigger. When Xolotl approached them Quetzalcoatl could see a smear of black behind him like the long body of a salamander.

“Quetzalcoatl,” Xolotl said warmly. He was human this time around; he switched species quite a lot, unlike most of the other gods. Quetzalcoatl themselves quite liked horses and didn't so much mind the captivity when they had the freedom of a strong body. Sometimes Xolotl would join them and they would be born twins again, in a strange mimicry of their original birth. Those were always the best lives, with Xolotl at their side.

“Hello Xolotl,” Quetzalcoatl replied, lifting their small head so Xolotl could stroke their nose. They were about the same age in these bodies, which wasn't unusual; Xolotl was still tottering about on feet he made more unsure than necessary. He had always enjoyed dramatizing growing up.

Xolotl pet their face and said, “I'm Viggo this time around.”

“Viggo,” Quetzalcoatl repeated dryly. “That's hilarious.” An Icelandic name meaning 'lightning', they knew. Xolotl never could help himself with influencing his parents to choose a name he preferred.

Xolotl—Viggo—laughed. “Just wait,” he said, patting his chubby child fist on Quetzalcoatl's nose. “I may or may not have whispered a name in the ear of the owner here.”

Quetzalcoatl lifted their head. “My name?” They asked. “You always pick terrible ones.”

“Just wait,” Xolotl said again with a grin far too mature for his face. “I did good this time around, I promise.”

They snorted. “Somehow I don't believe you,” they said, but Xolotl only laughed and eventually it coaxed a smile from Quetzalcoatl too.

Image
Back before, in the period Quetzalcoatl remembered more like a dream than a memory, Xolotl and them had been close friends. They could never quite forget that, even when other things faded: the chanting of prayer and the smell of fresh blood, the vibrant colors of the Mayan Empire and the celebrations performed in their name. Those things became more smeared than realistic, a mess of colors and sensations. They could not quite separate stories they had actually experienced and stories that had been just that.

But their soul knew Xolotl, and always would. He had left an impression within them that would not fill, not even when enough centuries passed that everything else vanished.

Xolotl drew them back to the conversation by saying suddenly, “A boy, huh?”

Quetzalcoatl laughed. To the surrounding humans it sounded like a foal's happy whinny. “You know I don't care either way,” they said when they'd recovered. They swished their short tail and considered the gold hue of their legs. “I was more excited about being a palomino than a stallion.”

Xolotl chuckled. “I can't believe that doesn't bother you more,” he said, “But I suppose that's the difference between us, brother.”

Quetzalcoatl smiled at him. It had always been the difference between them; Quetzalcoatl had never cared about the genders of their vessels, their sacrifices. They had little preference either way; they did not see themselves as being more male than female, and so they'd divorced from the idea of gender eons ago. Xolotl had yet to let go of that lingering conception of being male, though Quetzalcoatl had seen him in other genders before—it was more so that he had a preference rather than a necessity (their brother Tezcatlipoca however, demanded to be male each time he reincarnated, no matter the species).

Xolotl's human parents called for their son. “Viggo!” His mother sang. She was a kind-faced pudgy woman, with lank brunette hair that looked nothing like her son's pale blonde crown. (That in itself wasn't unusual. Quetzalcoatl was often gold and bright; Xolotl was often pale and ashen. Quetzalcoatl was quite sure they'd never seen him anything but blonde.)

Xolotl winked at them. “I'll come back,” he promised, and pressed a messy kiss to Quetzalcoatl's whiskery nose.

Quetzalcoatl nodded. To both the horses and the humans that had heard them speak their conversation had been nothing but nonsense; something in another language perhaps, one too old for any of them to understand. It passed unnoticed. Xolotl allowed his mother to fasten him into the car seat in the back of their car and waved at Quetzalcoatl out the window as they drove away. He mouthed something that looked like, “It's fabulous.”

Later that evening the owner signed off on a certificate that named them The Resplendent Quetzal, and Quetzalcoatl could not even bring themselves to be annoyed. (Xolotl had given them worst names before, they supposed. This one was at least tolerable. The memory of wings had not gone as far away from them as others, and they could imagine the weight of feathers lying on their shoulders easily enough. It was kind of nice, even, to think of birdsong they had not heard in many years.)

    general notes:
Quetzalcoatl and Xolotl are twins and allies in Mayan mythology; Quetzalcoatl is god of wind,
the dawn, merchants and knowledge and Xolotl is god of fire and lightning and deformities and
death. (That's what the reference to his human name is; he's the god of lightning, so naming
himself an Icelandic name for 'lightning' is funny.)
(If I win Quetzal I'll order a custom from the Challenge Center to be Xolotl cx)
the reference to a salamander-esque shadow stretching behind Xolotl is a reference to this
wee creature; Xolotl had an animal form in which he
turned into an axolotl in mythology
the resplendent quetzal (the birds above) was often linked to the god Quetzalcoatl in
Mayan religion and were seen as representatives of him (in fact they were named after
    the god!)

Tolter's Name: Chasing the Sun // Sorath, angel who is the spirit of the sun
Gender: non binary, they/them pronouns
Halter: similar to this
Significant Day:

Everything was black, all I remember is my soul floating through oblivion searching for something to or someone to save me. I never was one to enjoy the night, the eery silence, lack of color and hope. Here I was, a wisp of light in an endless abyss of black. Then something changed, I could see it. So close but yet so far, a sea of fire growing near and engulfing the empty space around me. It was so warm, comforting, like a mother cradling a baby I found a place I could belong. For centuries I was there, my home in a blazing pit of pure energy. The dancing flames became my friends, they were the only ones who would listen.

I thought I could spend eternity there, the more I moved the more I discovered. No longer wrapped in black, everything around me the home I so earned for. Something went wrong, I could feel myself being pulled away. It was a force out of my control, moving at the speed of light through the flames until everything became cold. I had grown, my entire essence was burning as I was thrusted through time and space itself.

Passing planets I didn't even knew existed until the force slowed, a planet like no other. Green and blue, I could hear the sound of laughter, but also the sound of sobs. I knew what it was - life. Things started moving again, spinning and morphing into one as my soul was thrown through the atmosphere. Darker shades of blue turned to light, strands of fluffy condensation did nothing to stop my impact.

My skin felt like my home - burning with the power to destroy and create. I felt nothing when I crashed into the surface of this strange place, a small ring of fire burning though the thick weaving green. For the first time sense my creation, I looked down a saw something. Not just the end of smokey trail, but a body with four hooves and all.

I felt alone, a child lost in a strange place searching frantically for it's mother. All I had to do was look up, my home climbing the sky and illuminating the Earth I stood on.

As time went on I learned this place had time of light and time of dark - my purpose became clear. A protector to those just as frightened as the black emptiness as I was, saving them from what lurks in the shadows. I will Chase the Sun until the day I die, then be reborn to start again.

Tolter's Name: Golden Luminescence // Marigold
Gender: mare
Halter: something with her eye color?
Significant Day:
Marigold was a very sickly foal, riddled with diseases and conditions. Her immune system was so bad that she had to stay away from the other horses and really the rest of the farm to keep from contracting anything. By the time she turned one, her entire world was the small pen, the shed and the vet. But six months later, her vet declared her healthy at last. Marigold's day started as usual but she soon noticed a buzz of activity, her handler seemed unusually cheerful and eager. Her handler clipped a lead to her halter and Marigold sulked, imagining another surgery though she couldn't see the trailer anywhere. "Today's your big day gorgeous." Her handler stated excitedly. Marigold pranced nervously as she was led out of her pen in the direction of the other horses she occasionally spotted. They moved closer and closer, and Marigold started to think she might actually meet the other horses. She picked up her pace to a trot, pulling her handler along behind her but all of a sudden she paused, worrying about her reception. "It's ok gorgeous, you're not joining them, just moving closer." Marigold skittered away from the herd's curious eyes, not so sure she wanted to leave her safe little pen anymore. As she approached, a bay dun pintaloosa trotted to the fence watching her with interest and tracking them as Marigold was led to a near by pasture. She didn't actually meet any of the horses, but she considers that day to be the start of the rest of her life.

As I entered the ring with my master I got excited and pranced a bit. She jagged at my bit and I threw my head up. She hit me with her whip and pushed me into canter. It was the finals of this prestigious jumping competition over 1m 40 and my rider was determined to win. She would do anything to win... Including injuring me.

We had to be fast. Our arch-rivals from The Twilight Circus Equestrian Centre on their jet black stallion had done a extremely fast round and when my master had heard their time she had kicked my feed bucket away from me and yelled at me to be faster.

The bell rung and she jabbed me harshly in the sides and I shot forward and she dragged at my mouth. I threw my head up and I received another kick from the Spurs as she pulled me to the first jump and kicked me on. I was going too fast and she kept making me go faster. I haphazardly jumped it almost making her fall off. Shocked gasps came from the crowd as she whipped me. She sent me to the next jump which I also jumped untidily. I landed hard and it hurt. I flattened my ears as she dragged me around and kicked me even harder. The next jump was a double. Sweat formed at my neck as I charged up to the first jump and threw myself at it and on a wing and a prayer, I cleared it but threw my rider onto my neck. Somehow she managed to sit back up and I got another warning kick in my ribs that stung and before I knew it, I was before the second jump. She did an exaggerated jumping position and dragged my bit up making me panic and leap wildly at it. I was clear. Then the next jump... An oxer and
I was going to fast.

We weren't going to make this one.

And I couldn't do anything about it.

She booted me hard noticing my attempt to stop and I half jumped and half refused. I got my foot stuck in the jump wing and it hit my side and I flipped over causing my rider to be thrown off. The poles fell on top off me and I got up in a blinded panic and broke the jump wing. The jump Wing splintered on my foot and I didn't see and kicked my foot forward trying to get it out and caused extreme injury to my tendons. I reared in pain and my reins got stuck around my horseshoe on my other foot making me fall over again. I snapped a pole underneath me and it jabbed my side. I was stuck. Next thing I knew was a vet running towards me and she fell to her knees besides me and whispered whilst she injected something into my veins as I fell asleep.

I woke up a few hours later in a padded room with people standing around me. I was in a lot of pain from my foot and side. My side was all stitched up and my foot was bandaged.

That day, after my accident, the owner of The Twilight Circus Equestrian Centre bought me and gave me a home to retire to. I can never jump competitively again but at least I am alive.
