I am bisexual, which is being attracted to both guys and girls. My parents say they don't judge gays, yet they, last night, yelled, "It's against nature!" "My dad(a church minister) would rater retire than do a gay wedding!" "It's their fault for choosing to be gay!" Why can't they accept gays for who they are..? My parents tell me all the time, "We love you, no matter what your mistakes are, or what you choose." That's crap. You guys would disown me if you found out I was bi. You'd yell at me that I'm a sin, against nature, not your daughter just because of who I love. We don't make the decision to be gay or bi, we are born that way and we make the decision to tell the world that we're proud to be gay or bi or lesbian. I had to listen to them rant and bash gays last night while sitting here, trying not to argue or speak out. I have nowhere to go right now if they found out, but I will in barely a year. I will be with my loved one, a girl I love with all my heart, then. I will not live with a family who forces me to drink and breathe God and Jesus.

Disown me if you will, I don't care anymore.

I just think if being gay/lesbian/bi is seen as a bad thing to people who believe in God or Jesus, then why did they (supposedly) invent it? (I'm neither Christian etc., or gay/lesbian/bi but I believe anyone has a right to decide who they want to love.)

I honestly do not understand the disowning that some parents resort to. It's pathetic and misguided.

If they were really Christians, they would not disown you at all, nor would they say such vile things. You should remind them that god teaches love and understanding, not hate and condemnation. Have them study the bible a bit more... they really need to read it. They're missing out on the key message if they're really like this.

I am so sorry about Christians being horrible and mean to you. I am Christian and I have friends who do not like gay or lesbian people because "it's not what God wanted". If God thought this was bad he would change it. I think gay and lesbian people should be proud. I am SO sorry I don't think there is anything with bisexual people. There are people in the world that will always support you. I don't understand why people have to be so harsh and rude to gay/lesbian people. I totally support you and wish you the best of luck on your journey through life. There are always people to support you through rough times

Perfect response to anyone who says it's a sin
so is eating shellfish, eating pork, wearing clothes made of multiple fabrics/with patches, etc
or to anyone using Leviticus as their reference point
Jesus dying on the cross renders everything in Leviticus essentially void

I'm always told Christians are the most accepting religion. That they don't judge. But everyone is always saying homosexuality is the worst sin, how everyone's gonna burn in hell...gah. Acceptance and tolerance seem to not have different to them.

And I get it, I'm Cheistian too. But really? The bible is all about loving people and just having a relationship with God. Not who's the straightest person in existence. Technically, you're not allowed to eat Bacon or wear clothes not 100% -fabric here- so uh, "don't get the speck from your brothers eye without removing the stick from your own" eh parents??
